"Wanna hear something cool?"

Extinction Rebellion British Columbia 20.10.2020

As many of you know, Extinction Rebellion has been a small group. Eric and Angela, began Extinction Rebellion Fraser Valley in February 2019. XR FRASER VALLE...Y NEEDS NEW PEOPLE AT THE HELM. After much deliberation, and with great sadness we have decided to bring this ship into port. Burn-out, COVID19, and our plans to leave to valley - in early spring -, to return to subsistence farming, (to live with the land not on it,) means that at this time we can no longer dedicate ourselves full time to activist causes. We will continue to support other groups, in any way we can. We hope someone will step up to take the helm. To bring new blood, new ideas to the manner in which actions can be taken in the Fraser Valley. Our planet depends on people to stand up, NOW. XR Fraser Valley has a small group which has received support from many amazing people, and we have always tried to support the action of other groups in the Valley. We have worked hard, supporting, other groups, holding a blockade - or two, banner drop, going before council, and even marching in the Abbotsord parade, and being a presence at community events. Generally rattling cages wherever we could in the Valley. Our collaborative rally One Planet - A Future To Look Back on, will always be the 'jewel in the crown' in our memory. XR Bellingham (our friends and allies,) and the guidance of PIPE UP, along with so many wonderful presenters and speakers made that a day to remember. Another such rally was to take place this year, but COVID19, has rendered it not possible. Whenever we can, we will continue to support other environmental groups on the coast. We will continue for a time to update this page with other groups actions. But we hope someone will step up and carry on the work that was begun. with love and rage Angela and Eric Fraser Valley XR

Hello Rebs and Rebel Supporters. We hope this finds you all well. We have been watching the world's recent events with a cliched mix of emotion. After some co...nsideration of what we might do at this point - given that we are in higher risk for covid and as much as we wish to join large rallies - we simply can not - we have decided on a city beautification project. Beginning in old Abbotsford we will be redecorating with the flowers pictured below. Our project is a living work and will evolve, grow and move at the whim of those who participate. Our project will officially begin on Friday morning (June 12 2020) at Jubilee Park at 11 a.m. where we will begin "planting our flowers ...we invite you to join us with your own art against racism. Yesterdays monsoons caused a delay in our flowers against racism day jubilee park ..we will be there at 2pm today Saturday June 13. Jubilee PArk Abbotsford See more

Another example of the colonial mindset...a fence just put up dividing so called Abbotsford BC and Lyndon US. Do the colonial powers truly believe a fence will stop covid or keep apart those who love our mother earth who respect the land who stand as one

We did some Abbotsford beautification on Saturday (June 13) around old Abby, Jubilee Park, and Mill Lake. It was disheartening to see some of the torn Black Li...ves Matter posters in old downtown Abby, but we planted flowers in the remnants of the torn poster - we will not be silenced nor defeated! Later that evening we joined in with the March Against Systematic Silence. It was wonderful to see so many people, by our count at least 250 of all colours, together and united. 99% of marchers wore face covering, keeping each other safe. Of course we planted some more flowers along the march route, and at the memorial at City Hall. See more

We are happy to report, that -xr Vancouver and xr Fraser Valley will be having an online discussion on how XR on the coast may take a stand with regards to the ...escalating racist aggression and crimes against the Asian Communties on the coast. Violent assaults against Chinese-Canadians is 8 times higher today than it was last year. NO person should live in fear of being assaulted verbally or physically because of their culture, skin colour nationality, or religion. XR Fraser Valley believes a stand must be taken against racism and hate crime. IF WE REMAIN SILENT WE ARE COMPLICIT. We know the Right Wing with their White Supremist Agenda is Rising. XR Fraser Valley believes we must move to 'put out fires' as they arise - We are excited about brain-storming with like minded individuals to rise to say -- NO! Your HATE MONGERING IS NOT WELCOME ....We will have more details following our meeting with our sister-ship Vancouver. See more

#EmergencyDispatchFromSoCalledCanada Wet’suwet’en Territory, February 27th, 2020We are seeing many pre-emptive and presumptive news reports, erroneously confirming that we have come to an agreement with the RCMP and the state. Before talks had even begun, mainstream and right wing media was reporting an end to the discussion, seeking to quell dissent and silence support for our position. We confirm that discussions have begun today, but the terms of the discussions have yet t...o be determined and agreed upon.We have not yet received, as a gesture of respect from the RCMP, the written confirmation that our demands will be met and upheld while discussions are ongoing, nor that discussions will continue after February 28th.Please stand by and watch our pages and that of Gidimt’en Checkpoint for progress and updates. We thank you for your continued solidarity and support in this pivotal and stressful time.Media Contact:Freda [email protected] WickhamMedia Coordinator778-210-0067
