I was down in Vancouver for the Professional Photographers of Canada Conference a couple years ago. While there, I wanted to get a few shoots in of the sort I couldnt do around Tumbler Ridge: Oceans, city lights, cherry blossoms...that sort of thing. I also wanted to work with Cara (@cara.l.h), who I had worked with when she was living in Prince George. In order to keep the lantern from bouncing up and down while I exposed the image to drag the shutter to get the city in the back, I actually had @lilyraemodel76 balancing the light on a rock. I was actually impressed at how still she stood.It looks like a two light setup, but I actually used one flash to light her from behind, then ran and lit her from the front. She didnt move at all. Courtenay @healthymomfor2 lives on Vancouver Island. I live in Tumbler Ridge. We both wound up in Vancouver the same day; I for a #ppoc conference, she for a #pink concert. After the show we hit downtown for a series of epic photos before Skytrain stopped running and I would have to walk all the way to Richmond. This is a shot that Ive been chasing for a long time. The actual taking of it was kinda ridiculous, though as I wasnt able to bring a stand for my light with me on the plane. So I put the camera on a tripod and ten second timer, and ran to hold the light in place before the timer ran out. Execution? Ridiculous. Results? A couple years back, I had the good fortune to shoot with @3deemovements; she had come to town to do some climbing, but had got rained out, so she and @jaymesauve consented to just play around and have fun out in the #shipyardtitanic area. Earlier this year, she asked if I could shoot some shots of her for her business. And I was like "weeeeell, maybe." No, seriously. I think she was just getting sick of me asking when we can shoot again, and tossed me a bone. It was great. ... They have these great coloured wall, so I tossed a light on the wall and a light on her for this series.
