Very sobering data on the #COVID19 experience in #Italy 8% of cases were healthcare workers. Higher rates of infection and mortality than reported elsewhere.... At least a quarter of cases were 'severe' or 'critical' This tells me that we in Canada have to take this very seriously. We must act swiftly and immediately. Measures like hand washing, avoid touching your face, stopping unnecessary travel and social distancing are vital. Everyone has got to do this. Extensive and rapid testing identifying cases and transmission sources are also a necessary part of slowing this down.

The silent invasion. Our patient was referred because she has been suffering for years being misdiagnosed with allergies, infections and now with chronic eye inflammation and nerve pain. In this case, her cosmetic cover-up was one of the main causes, hiding behind the eyelid and discovered during a complex dry eye consultation. #DryEyeDisease patients often have an oil problem with their tear composition. Look for the 'oil-slick' pattern that moves with each blink in the normal eye using a technique called interferometry. #DryEyeDisease doesn't always hurt! This patient with a severe case of filamentary keratitis (inflammed cornea with mucin adhesions) had NO SYMPTOMS because the nerves of the cornea had shut down due to prolonged uncontrolled disease.
