Where does inspiration come from? For those that don’t know me, I have a love of photography, travel and the woods. I rarely hike without my camera and when I travel, I travel to photograph animals in their natural habitats. Galápagos, Africa or my own backyard, I’m inspired by the natural world. Sometimes it’s animal tracks that inspire a sculpture or my personal interactions with them. As an artist reference photos are an important part of sculpting, and any opportunity to use my own always helps. One day I will organize the thousands upon thousands of photos....... but that’s another story . Working smaller is much more difficult for me personally. Maybe because I have only ever really sculpted large pieces and they are a little more forgiving. This is the beginning of a baby polar bear to complete a larger sculpture im working on. Even a piece this size has a wire skeleton inside.
