What?? Dont touch my eyes??! How do I wear my contacts!! We at Eye Q Optometry would like to remind everyone about contact lens hygiene during this crisis and what to do if youre running low on supply. First off Glasses = 1st option for vision correction during the COVID-19 crisis as not only do you not have to touch your eyes, but there is also a physical barrier between your eyeball and the outside world. But...... If you must wear your contacts, remember these routines to help keep your eyes and body healthy. First off, to reduce the risk of transmission of viruses through your eyes remember to wash your hands not only before inserting but also when removing contact lenses. A good, long 20-30 second wash. Run through the alphabet a couple times in your head. Secondly, when removing for the night rub with contact lens solution for 10 seconds on each side after every wear. Thats one slow round of twinkle twinkle. Thirdly, wash the case with hot soapy water and let air dry more frequently. Fourthly, replace contacts as the schedule recommends, dont try to stretch their life. Replace monthlies, monthly. Replace dailies, daily. This reduces the risk of the cornea to become compromised due to hypoxia, or due to the lens material breaking down and holding more microbes in direct proximity of your cornea. In the event of a mandatory closure like Ontario we will still be working behind the scenes whether that means reordering your supply, needing to pick up glasses, or needing advice on an eye issue. MOST IMPORTANTLY: If you are running short on your supply of contacts just call 403.727.4404 or email [email protected] and we can take payment over the phone and ship direct to your house, for free.

Therefore, we at Eye Q Optometry, are implementing measures to further reduce the risk of exposure for you and your family during your visit to our clinic. Your health and the health of our team is our top priority. None of our team members have travelled in the last several months, or exhibit any signs or symptoms of cough or fever, but will be quarantined and tested if this changes, for your safety. It is of note that some of our staff and patients are immunocompromised and it is of utmost importance our patients comply with the following: 1. We ask that any patients who have recently travelled outside of Canada, or who have been to a gathering of more than 250 people (concert, shows, sporting events, cruise ships) or who have had contact with a person suspect of having covid-19 virus reschedule visiting our clinic for 14 days.
