Soon Food4Kids Waterloo Region will have a new home. We are bursting at the seams and though we hate to leave our friends at Chartwell Westmount, we are taking the huge step to ensure we can feed the thousands of kids living with chronic hunger in our community. THANK YOU to THE FIT CLUB! The Fit Club’s Train the Trainer Annual Charity Fundraiser looked a little different this year as coaches took it totally virtual but the results were still amazing. A $4420 donation has been made to Food4Kids Waterloo Region including a $2100 match from the Price Team themselves (WOW!) through their Train the Trainer Event. Between December 7-19th, coaches ‘took it virtual’ posting their 12 Days of Fitmas Challenges on social media for all... to watch and cheer. These grueling, short but fun fitness challenges were submitted by members and top 12 were chosen by vote for coaches to complete and share online in December. Supporters cheered them on virtually and great fun, fitness and laughter was shared by all involved. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, it was very important to The Fit Club to keep the Train the Trainer tradition going and continue to support those in need, said Dr Tara Price.The Fit Club cares deeply about making health & fitness a priority, especially during these times, and will keep pivoting to provide the fit fam with support, encouragement and accountability as we all get through this pandemic together! GOOD NEWS! Sharing a very good news story from a school we support - Westmount Public School. Our staff got goosebumps seeing these photos and receiving the food deliveries following the overwhelming success of their Touchless Food Drive on our behalf on Wednesday December 9th. Thank you to the generous and caring Westmount community staff, students, families and members of the greater Westmount community who responded in a very BIG way. An incredible amount of food ... valued at $2700+ donated and in addition, $925+ in cash donations was also collected including proceeds from a Wild Kids Chewing Gum Challenge AMAZING! We were all pretty excited over here at Westmount and had a lot of fun seeing our community and school come together to support kids. Pretty magical, reported Westmount Principal, Jennifer Critts This initiative has made a difference here for our staff and students to be able to rally around something like this, at this time of year and during COVID. Community Shout Out to a kind and generous community partner - FCF Carpentry - who in light of the COVID 19 pandemic, noticed that local families were in need of help more than ever and were excited to do something about it. With a phenomenal total donation of $6898 including a company match of $1500 - they far exceeded their goal of raising $5,000.00 to help to feed at least 5 children for an entire year. Instead they are feeding 7! This is how it all went down. Wit...h help from their friend Joel and friends at The Old Marina Restaurant, a drive-through toy / cash drive was held on Saturday December 5. People came in droves to safely drop off toys at a safe, sanitized distance. Working together with the Knights of Columbus, they filled 3 vans full of toys - over 1,150 total -crushing their original goal of one van. All toys were then donated to the KOC annual toy drive which is in its 24th year for distributing to approximately 25,000 kids in our community at Christmas each year. "COVID 19 has affected so many people in so many different ways and we wanted to brighten the spirits of as many children and families that we could this Christmas season," said organizer and FCF co-owner Jon Feeney. "Together our community has made a big difference so thank you to all supporters and all of our FCF staff who volunteered their time for the event making sure every single toy was sanitized prior to bagging.
