Artist Spotlight! Max and Norbert Neiger. Born in Poland in the late 1800s, the brothers Neiger lived in Czechoslovakia and became intrigued by the glass jewelry for which the region is famous. Older brother Norbert Neiger began by training at the Gablonz School for Applied Arts in bijouterie (trinket-making), and then set up a studio in the basement of the family home. Max soon joined him, and with his creative flair he took over design while Norbert ran the day to day work...ings of the company. The Neigers were so successful by the mid 1920s, they had to employ additional workers to assemble their signature beads, jewelry, perfume bottles and dress clips. Sadly, as the Nazis advanced through Europe the Neigers attempted to escape to Bohemia, but were caught and ultimately died at Auschwitz concentration camp in 1942. We are very excited to have found an ultra rare panel bracelet crafted by Max and Norbert Neiger. This incredible piece features the intricate metal and glass work which made the Neiger brothers famous, as well as many of their signature elements such as sawtooth settings, floral designs, and twisted "rope" details. The glass is designed to resemble semi-precious stones lapis lazuli, turquoise, coral, etc. and each piece is beautifully crafted in a variety of shapes and sizes. Baked enamel in vibrant colours is also featured throughout. Exceptionally lovely in every way, this bracelet is both whimsical and wonderful, for both its craftsmanship, history, and art. It would be a crown jewel in any antique/vintage jewelry collection. The business card from the shop where the piece was originally purchased is included, a tremendous and charming added bonus. 7.5"L x 1 3/8"W, $1295. #vintagefinds #vintagejewelry #neigerbrothers #artistspotlight #fabpadvintage #rarefind #stevestonvillage #richmondbc
