At FACE, we are fortunate that we have a private clinic and our own approved operating room where we can carefully control elevated levels of safety for our patients. It is important to note that things have not gone back to normal. We must be extra vigilant to reduce risks for our patients and our staff. While it is going to take a little bit of getting used to as we remove some o...f the little perks and comforts of our clinic in the name of safety, we hope that they will be replaced by elevated levels of service and communication and an understanding that infection control trumps all else. Our facility already exceeded safety requirements before the pandemic, but we have added extra measures of antiseptic cleaning, HEPA and UV air filtration and strict distancing measures. The biggest change that you will see is that we have drastically reduced in-person visits. We have reduced clinic volumes by over 50 percent to minimize your exposure. On the positive side, we have found our virtual consultations and follow ups to be more accessible, convenient, and personal for our patients. On the downside, our ability to get patients in for treatments and follow ups is naturally a bit slower. As we reopen, we will do everything we can to make your experience as wonderful as possible. For all of you that have had appointments or surgeries postponed, please know that you have not been forgotten. Our summer schedule was already almost totally booked prior to the pandemic and we are working to get each of you rescheduled as soon as we can. There are also many patients that may require more urgent surgeries or reconstructive procedures that need to be put at the forefront. I never squeeze-in or overbook any surgeries or visits. Quality, care, and safety cannot be compromisedwe have to slow our pace, and be more careful with every step. Over the next few weeks to months, ventilators like this will be a precious commodity for our healthcare system. They will mean the difference between life and death for those that become seriously ill. This weekend, a group of us (initiated by Dr. Peter Adamson) are working to urgently coord...inate how private surgeons can donate their ventilators to the hospitals. There is a good chance that it will save a life. That will likely be the life of a stranger, but very well could be the life of a friend, sibling, parent or grandparent. COVID-19 update: After much deliberation, we have decided to take a leading initiative and suspend all non-essential services at FACE Toronto as of today. Our heart goes out to all our patients that have made complex arrangements to schedule their procedures with us and we will do everything we can to accommodate rescheduling. As physicians, we really believe that it is our responsibility to do our part in a time like this. This commitment and resilience is what makes all o...f us proud Canadians and citizens of our shared world. It is not enough to be passive in this time and for anyone of us to see our own self-interests. We must all do our part. It takes about 15 minutes under iv anesthesia and recovery is generally pretty quick. This is a good option for younger patients (e.g. 20-50) who do not have a lot of loose skin. When there is more skin laxity, it is often better to perform a face and neck lift. #face #liposuction #facelift
