DAN Management Distinguished Lecture - The Structural Reshaping of Globalization - Nov 20 Peter Buckley, Professor of International Business at Leeds University Business School will be presenting The Structural Reshaping of Globalization with Alain Verbeke, Professor of International Business Strategy at Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary as discussant. Date: November 20, 2020... Time: 10:00 am EST The Structural Reshaping of Globalization This talk examines the role of theory, specifically internalization theory, in examining the structural reshaping of globalization. Four empirical changes in the global economy are identified. (1) The fracture in the global economy between the USA and China, including the splinternet. (2) Systemic Competition and its consequences. (3) Rising VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) and corporate responses. (4) Innovation. Dear Western Students, With fall reading week approaching, I hope you can take some time to rest and recharge. I know these last few months have been hard.... You’ve been asked to limit your social activity, learn in new ways, avoid travelling that’s a lot of change. All of this can impact your mental health and well-being. If you’re heading home for the break, we are asking you to limit your in-person interactions as much as possible and continue to follow health and safety protocols. The Middlesex London Health Unit continues to discourage non-essential travel to Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City and the Greater Toronto Area, including Peel and York Regions. Travel outside of Canada is also strongly discouraged.
