My Little Butcher Shop on 1948 Eglinton Avenue was featured on blogTO! This butcher shop in Toronto serves high grade meats in specialty cuts: triple-A grade steaks, chicken, turkey, goat and lamb. Besides the meat that comes entirely from Canada and is delivered fresh every day, the shop also stocks seasonings and sauces, rice and noodles, fresh bread, frozen fish and blocks of cheese on its shelves.... Having gained his expertise as a butcher at various supermarkets over the years since the young age of 14, the owner Kurt Konietzny does all he can to make sure that his neighbourhood shop doesn't feel like a large grocery chain. Most of those who walk through the door of the store on Eglinton West have been here before and are known by name. Fairbank’s Harvests celebrates the diversity of the Fairbank Village neighbourhood through bright colours and vibrant patterns. The illustration features local storefronts, as well as popular fruits that are frequently seen in Spanish, Italian, Filipino, Portuguese and Jamaican cuisines, which the area is known for. The artwork is intended to encourage people to strengthen the foundation of the community by shopping locally, so everyone can share in its future rich harvests. Sue has a soft spot for Fairbank Village, as she only lives blocks from where these decals have been installed. The featured artwork conveys the message that the area is open to shop safely in a fun and family friendly way. The design features the Fairbank Village BIA logo of ...a tree which represents growth and optimism during this difficult time. Inspired by medieval woodcuts, Todd aesthetic references the ancient linocut technique and incorporates digital colour application. An illustrated door opening on the tree, alludes to the area being open for business.
