We are raising #8CallsforJustice Honouring the 8 Murdered in Atlanta. Join us, post online, and ask your friends to do the same. - First Call: Full Decriminal...ization of Sex Work - Criminal laws kill us! The criminalization of sex work is harmful to sex workers. We are being surveillance, arrested, jailed and deported. It does not only perpetuates stigma and discrimination against sex. It also gives power to law enforcement to abuse and target us. Criminalization put us in danger, It prevents us from accessing health, supports and safety, We call for decriminalization: removing all the criminal laws(including sex workers, clients and third party) that we can have safety, dignity and equality. - SIGN THE DECLARATION: https://www.butterflysw.org/8callsforjustice - Articles: 10 Reasons to decriminalize sex work: https://www.opensocietyfoundations.org//ten-reasons-decrim Canadian Alliance for Sex Work Law Reform. Physical distancing is not a reality for everyone. Issuing fines those without a home to stay in is not the solution and will not stop the spread. More support and action to address systemic challenges is needed, NOT tickets.
The criminalization of #homelessness has been in the news recently. http://bit.ly/2XAtfLu Back in 2008, we partnered with researchers Bill O'Grady and Kristy Bu...ccieri in a report documenting how Canada has criminalized homelessness through a law and order agenda: https://www.homelesshub.ca/CanISeeYourID See more
We are so grateful for this individual who shared his story with us. He represents a larger community that shares similar experiences. The Safe Streets Act not only fails to address "aggressive solicitation" but also targets a vulnerable population. http://ow.ly/O9xQ50tVBMK
