The Fairfax team would love to wish Dr.Hardy a heartfelt farewell as he embarks on his 2nd retirement. Dr.Hardy has had a great impact on the accomplishments of our growing agency and because of that we have dedicated the training room to him. All of our training classes and other Fairfax meetings and enhanced training workshops, will now be held at the Dr.Hardy Training Centre. On Friday May 17th, 2019 we hosted a potluck lunch celebrating Dr.Hardy’s accomplishments in the field and dedication to people living with developmental disabilities. Job Description Job Summary: The Direct Support Professional (DSP) supports every aspect of the lives of people with intellectual disabilities to help them achieve the best possible essential safeguards, quality of life, personal growth, and natural relationships as they emerge into their rightful place within the community. The DSP reports to a designated Team Leader or program coordinator; no positions report to the DSP.... The DSP completing the overnight asleep shift will be required to sleep in the home and respond to the support needs of the individual if they wake up. Preference will be given to DSP’s with experience working with individuals who engage in self-harming behaviours, who are physically capable, confident and comfortable with applying physical supports and comfortable with bodily fluids. Position Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or older Updated resume. Must have a minimum education of Grade 10 diploma or equivalent. Must have strong written and oral communication skills. Must have strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to working within a team. Must have a class 5F MB driver's license. *Criminal Record Search Certificate with Vulnerable Sector screening. *Abuse Registry checks. 2 applicable employment references and 1 character reference. *Checks can be no older than 3 months Position Benefits: Health benefits available after three months of full-time employment GRRSP contribution available after one year of full-time employment Loyalty Incentive 2 Paid Wellness days (full-time employees only) 4 Paid Sick days (full-time employees only) Position Salary Range: $13.75 - $16.00 /hr Asleep shifts: $11.90 /hr Want to learn more about us? We are very proud to introduce our new Direct Support Professional application stream. If you're a new Canadian looking for a career in the Human Services field but need additional English language development, our new program is perfect for you. Fairfax Inc.'s English Development Program for new Canadian, Direct Support Professionals follows an enhanced academic outline that focuses on developing a potential employee’s pronunciation, writing and grammar skills, as well as ...non-verbal communication skills, through the VAK learning style. As an enhanced program, the outline presents participants with modern day examples that will not only develop the participant's English comprehension skills, but their understanding of Canadian culture and Canadian workplace dynamics. This will help potential employees of Fairfax Community Resources Inc. navigate through everyday life in a Canadian city. The English Development Program is designed to be six weeks in duration, with potential employees attending two - four hour evening classes per week. This program is completely voluntary, but will increase a participant's English comprehension skills and provide invaluable industry experience.
