I AM SAD TO SAY FAIRFIELD FISH AND CHIPS LTD. WILL BE PERMANENTLY CLOSING FEB.25th 2018 . The reason for this , is my lease is up Feb.28th and Dutton Realty ( my landlord ) doesn't want a fish and chip on the premises anymore . It is with great disappointment that "The Shop" will not be around for another 22 years . It continues to be a thriving business and it's a shame it won't continue with myself or another future owner . I have considered myself , and "The Shop" to be p...art of the community and will miss my longtime customers and customers from afar.....especially the kids from SJD , as they always brighten up my day when they come in. Many X-SJD student who now are married , graduated university or moved away still come back to see if they can still get the "SJD Special" ( in a cone of course ) . I would also like to thank my wonderful staff I've had over the years . I've been very fortunate to have so many interesting and hardworking staff . They have shown me much respect and have contributed to the style of "The Shop" . I consider them more friends and family than employees . I also feel fortunate that I've been able to work here for 12 years and never not wanting to go to work . It never seemed like work . I will probably be taking a little time off , and then do some volunteering at one of the food banks . Cooking is one of the skills I have acquired over the years , and I believe in giving back for all the good fortune I've had over my lifetime .
