I’ve had the honour of visiting Colonel John McRae’s birthplace in Guelph Ontario. His poem is world renowned and it’s one of the first poems I learned in public school. Had to include this sad news about a longstanding person in our community who was an integral part of the farming community in Harrow and Essex County. Because of his generosity and service to our area farmers, he helped propel the success of agriculture within Essex county. He was a big man, with a big heart and big personality. He is going to be greatly missed.

Winter, spring, summer, fall - a farmer loves them all. I am partial to autumn though. As soon as I stepped out into the early morning darkness and saw Venus a...nd the penumbra of the moon hanging over the pasture field, I knew that it was going to be a perfect day. Darkness soon gave way to light and the canvas that’s been painted over the last few days soon surrounded me. These are the kind of days I live for. The brilliance of nature costs nothing.
