My vet said Blossom’s puppies were quiet & perfectly well-behaved for their shots a couple of days ago. I wonder what that’s like?
Half of Blossom’s pups checking out the truck after their vaccinations while we wait in the parking lot for the remaining four to be finished. All’s well so far!
Coats on dogs to find them in the snow & for identification! Woke up to more than a foot!
Wow, I've heard of this happening but not in Canada until now.
Oh BOY .... times SIX!! Blossom is a very busy mom looking after her 8 beautiful babies. And 6 of them are boys so you know that means mischief! Here they are at 18 days old after their eyes have opened.
Happy babies with full tummies! (Tails painted with nail polish so I can tell them apart when I weigh them...)
Too much of a good thing? Poor mom had 8 (yes, eight!) puppies on Friday. That's a lot for an 11.5 pound Bichon. An average size litter is 4-5. I've already done supplemental tube feeding on the weakest babies and am putting them with mom in shifts so everyone has a chance to nurse. Plus, we're trying to supercharge her milk production with supplements & extra calories. So far so good; all are gaining slowly but I think I'm in for some sleepless nights & 4 a.m. feedings! CLARIFICATION: These puppies are all spoken for! I can't take any more names on my waiting list. Please visit my website, www.fairhavenbichons.com for more information & try contacting me again in December. Thanks!
"Do you think this place is haunted?" What do you think "Blue Boy" might be saying to "Green Boy"? Post your comments below!
There's nothing scary about Jasmine's adorable girls, 4 weeks old yesterday, except the Halloween-themed backdrop
Guess who just passed their vet checks and were very brave for their first vaccinations? Skye’s puppies are almost ready to go home to their eager families.
It's been a busy summer but we had to share these pics of Skye's gorgeous first puppies -- 2 girls and a boy. @SandyFrische Monty is a granddaddy, can you believe it?!
Okay, so last week they were just opening their eyes and seeing the world for the first time. Now, they think they're in charge!
Willow's pups went home on the weekend. The house is so quiet! But we appreciate the photos and updates from their new families. Below are Jazz (top) and Summer.
Violet is such a great mom to her 3 beautiful puppies born May 22! She's so attentive and last year even fostered 2 puppies when their mom didn't have enough milk.
So, I was contacted the other day by someone whose puppy was killed by a coyote, and sadly this is not the first time. I think dogs in urban areas are at even higher risk for coyote attack than those in rural areas nowadays. Please never leave your pet unattended in your yard!
Willow's puppies almost ready for their forever homes! It seems like just a couple of weeks ago I posted newborn photos of them. Next week it's off to the vet for their vaccinations.
Willow & her puppies are setting in well at our new home -- it was a long move but now it's playtime!
Happy Birthday! Willow's puppies (3 boys & 2 girls) born March 14 are 1 week old today! Mom and babies are doing really well!
Lily's 2 boys 8 weeks old today!
Puppy's First Playdate! Jasmine's little girl is an only child (only 1 puppy born) and never had a chance to play with siblings. She's 5 weeks old now & while Jasmine is away for a bit, I made an L-shaped playpen and put in a crate divider so she can see Lily's 6 puppies interact and even play with them safely (she's 2 weeks younger and much smaller). This is her first play date & I think it went very well!
