Juste avant que la pandémie ne frappe, Rémi Tremblay est allé au Honduras visiter une coop de café où la compagnie s’approvisionne. C’était formidable de voir à quel point ça change la donne. La coop, c’était comme une petite société à l’intérieur de la société. While international coffee companies are making huge profits, coffee farmers are struggling with bitter poverty. One of them is Olga Alvarado from Honduras . Like many of her compatriots, she therefore fled to the USA. After eight years she returned to run a small coffee farm from which she can make a living. Farmers in the Global South face a daily challenge due to climate change caused by human activity: soil erosion, extreme weather, crop diseases, and other unnatural phenomenon is causing social and economic unpredictability for millions of these small-scale farmers. As 80 percent of the world’s food comes from 500 million small-scale farms. If they... suffer, we will all feel the consequences.
