Dear Congregation and Community Members, The church elders and I, like many of you, are paying attention to our community health leaders regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus. This afternoon, after some prayer and discernment, we connected to discuss some important next steps/decisions regarding our church and its related ministries. While we are not a large congregation, our membership does include a number of people who would fall within the at-risk population vulnerable ...for COVID 19. We recognize that the Ontario government has ordered all public schools closed for 3 weeks and, in accordance with the recent statement issued by the Thunder Bay Health Unit, we believe that the following decisions are best for our congregation and community at this time: Worship Services: Suspended through April 5. We will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation with the hope to resume services for Good Friday (Apr 10) and Easter Sunday (Apr 12). Wednesday Night Bible Studies: Suspended through Wednesday, April 1. We hope to resume again on Wednesday, April 8. Kids’ Club: Suspended through Thursday, April 2. We hope to resume again on Thursday, April 9. Men’s and Women’s Bible Study: Suspended until further notice. Hopefully resuming sometime after Easter. We encourage you to take the time to check in on one another through text and email, continue to dive into God’s Word, and commit to praying for one another, our community and the world. We pray that this outbreak will not last long and that the measures that are in place will be effective in minimizing the impact on our community and the health care systems. We continue to trust that God is still in charge and His love never fails. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:6-7, NIV). God's grace and peace to you all!
