COQUITLAM RCMP Coquitlam RCMP officers investigate the scene of a collision. A 33-year-old Coquitlam man has been charged in a fatal collision that claimed the life of one person and sent two to hospital. Aristotle Lagace has been charged with four offences for his part in a crash that occurred on the evening of May 23, 2019, when a grey SUV and a black Dodge Durango collided near the intersection of Schoolhouse Road and Lucille Star Drive. Coquitlam RCMP’s Criminal Crash Investigation team later found evidence that Lagace was well in excess of the legal limit, according to a police press release. Coquitlam RCMP spokesperson Const. Deanna Law said in a written statement that these are tough investigations but that charges were eventually approved by the BC Protection Service on March 18, 2021. Legace has been charged with the impaired operation of a conveyance causing death and the impaired operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm, among other charges.

Dear Friends; We are often asked when speaking about our experience in dealing with a sudden tragic death of a Loved One, how we get over it. In truth, no one ever gets completely over the terrible loss we experience. Time marches on, and we have our individual grief, anger and deep sadness to work through. It often doesn’t help when there are numerous Court dealings like adjournments, a Trial, or Sentencing and Parole Hearings to go through, which and re-victimize us eve...ry day once again. However, we have our Work, Education, Family, Friends and Others who need, and depend on us. We try hard to be fully present, in every way for them. Our Loved Ones were like precious Gems given to us, and we must appreciate, honour and treasure them. We will love and uphold their memory; and give thanks for having them in our lives as long as we did. And while the initial shock of loosing a Loved One fades somewhat, we never completely forget. There is also no deadline on when grief ends, and as individuals we are all unique in our grieving. Every one grieves differently in their own way, and must deal with it as best we can. If it helps, - talk to somebody, or seek some Grief Counselling, or Pastoral Care. Don’t let any one ever tell you "when to get over it." If anyone says this to you, ask them When would you stop loving your Child or Loved One, and forget about them? Unfortunately, good people still say and do hurtful things, when trying to offer advice. The best advice we can offer is to focus on the love of your Loved One, and remember them as they were in life. (Try hard not to read an Autopsy Report, as you will never be able to un-see or unread what you have.) If you have to put your energy into something, put it into something that will help show kindness or generosity, help educate or preserve, or benefit others... in the name of your Loved One. Do not let your Loved One’s death be in vain. Neither let their death destroy you. We never know our destiny, but you can be sure tour Loved Ones would never want their untimely death, to destroy you! So when asked, we tell everyone..We don’t ever completely get over it. But with Love for the Loved One we have lost, we want to talk about them. And we just try to get through the rest of our lives one day at a time, as best we can. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=687V04fWwmg
