Excited to announce a new program in collaboration with the Tall and Small and Library in Antigonish.
Government is committed to working differently to build Standing Together, a coordinated action plan to prevent domestic violence and improve the system of supports for all Nova Scotians. As part of this work, the Nova Scotia Advisory Council on the Status of Women and the Department of Community Services have been working collaboratively with multiple community partners to enhance province-wide supports for women and men. We’re pleased to inform you that a new service is now... operational. Men’s Helpline is for adult men who have concerns about their well-being, safety, safety of others and/or who may be experiencing a crisis. This free, confidential service will be offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. By calling 211, men can access a variety of supports and services that are specific to their needs, including information, navigation, referrals, and brief intervention counselling. We know that life can be tough. It’s okay for men to each out and ask for help. Someone is always ready to listen. It’s confidential. It’s free. It can help. This collaborative initiative evolved through conversations with and contributions from many community partners who all play a role in keeping Nova Scotians safe. We would specifically like to thank our partners at 211 and Family Service of Eastern Nova Scotia for their dedication and commitment to building this new service to provide another way for men to reach out for support in order to enhance the safety and wellbeing of Nova Scotian families. Please share the information on this new service with your clients and networks.
