On December 19, 2020, Family Central Restaurant will close its doors. This decision is incredibly difficult; the food industry is challenging at the best of times, but under current COVID conditions we felt this was the right time to close down this portion of Family Central. During this final month we will continue to serve great food so make sure you use up all your gift cards and find time to come in and enjoy another meal together with us! **We also highly encourage ever...yone to support all the great local restaurants and businesses in our region!! It has been nearly 8 years since we put in the offer to buy the Central building and at the time, we weren’t sure exactly what the building would become but we hoped to restore it to be a core part of serving the people of our region. The restoration was a huge process! We started on the main floor and in 2014 the Family Central Restaurant opened. The goal was to be a quality family centred restaurant and over the years we have had incredible staff that went above and beyond in their roles and we enjoyed serving this great community and meeting so many amazing people! A few years later, after fully restoring the second and third floors, the Family Central Apartments program began. Today, we employ two staff members who actively work and partner with other agencies to support both those living in our program and many in the community who are seeking a hand up in their lives. Currently we are renovating the basement of the building to operate as a space to serve those in our program, those staying at the shelter and anyone else in need. The space offers privacy and dignity and includes semi-private meeting rooms, access to computers for job searches and other online needs, shower and laundry facilities, an in-house barber and access to other needed resources. Looking ahead, we are working towards helping bring more affordable housing to our region and continue to find innovative ways to help ensure everyone in our region has access to the great life that this nation offers us the opportunity to have. Lastly we again want to say thank you to the amazing staff we have employed over the years and to all who came out and supported the restaurant!
