Land Birds At Risk in Working Forests Dr. Cindy Staicer, Dalhousie University 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2021 Join a webinar with Dr. Cindy Staicer to learn mo...re about a new project to develop and test Best Management Practices (BMPs) for three species of birds at risk in Nova Scotia: the Canada Warbler, Olive-sided Flycatcher and Rusty Blackbird. These birds breed mainly in working forest landscapes. Staicer is looking for forest owners, managers, foresters or contractors who may be interested in becoming involved with the project. Involvement could range from attending workshops (virtual this year) or field trips; participating in the development of operational guidelines; or allowing a trial of draft Best Management Practices for these species on land that you own or manage. The project is focused on mainland Nova Scotia. Recovery of these at-risk populations depends on access to quality breeding habitat, especially in forested wetlands or forest wetland edges. BMPs can help landowners and forestry operators integrate the maintenance or creation of key habitat features for successful breeding into forest management planning and forestry operations. You are invited to learn more about the project by participating in a webinar with Staicer from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 30. Advance registration is required. To register, please send an email to Dr. Cindy Staicer at [email protected]. Land Birds At Risk in Working Forests Webinar Agenda 1. Introduction to the project 2. Overview of the species and their habitat needs 3. Examples of BMPs from the literature 4. How you can get involved
