This speaks to me and I want to take a moment to acknowledge the resilience that my own group has been showing throughout this pandemic. Back in March, I pivoted our in-person group programs to be on Zoom and many were worried that the online interactions would be lacking and even detrimental to our program participants, a group of young adults with various disabilities and mental health challenges. 10 months later and we see that they've not only adapted to cope with the cha...nges - they are thriving! Parents and caregivers have sent me emails and texts, they've made a point of coming to talk to me when I've delivered craft supplies and chocolate (we still have some to sell by the way and now tuques too!) and they sometimes will pop onto our calls to express their gratitude for it all and not only for the engaging and sometimes silly activities they are overhearing from elsewhere in the house, leaving them time and space to do their daily work and routine. We're working on skills in new ways, learning to navigate our current reality together. That's a real thing that has positive impacts on a person, and on a community.
