Hello everyone! We hope you and your loved ones are keeping safe and healthy. We, at Family Physio, have been working hard to resume full services as the province moves through the reopening stages.... We are committed to enforcing all suggested and required safety procedures. If you would like to book an appointment, please call us at 519-208-8811 (please leave a message if we are with clients) so we can schedule you in as soon as possible. Please note that we are strictly adhering to physical distancing protocols; therefore, we have limited appointments available each day. As always, we will work hard to get you in as soon as possible - with everyones safety in mind. As part of Stage 3 of the provinces reopening, please be sure to bring a mask and wear it at all times at the clinic. If you forget your mask, one will be provided for you Please arrive at the time of your appointment, but not it early, as we have very limited seating in our waiting area. As such, we ask that you not bring a guest, as we cannot accommodate them in the waiting area. A sanitation station is provided when you enter the clinic. We ask that everyone sanitize their hands upon entry. We are all adjusting to this new normal, so lets work together to get through this. If you have any feedback or suggestions about how to improve our services, please share them with the physiotherapist or a staff member. In wellness, Family Physio & Sports Rehab

Dear Community, The health and well-being of our clients and our community is our highest priority. As the situation with COVID-19 continues to change, we must respond accordingly. With this in mind, we have made the decision to close the clinic, effective immediately. Social distancing remains the most direct method of containing the spread and flattening the curve. We will continue to monitor local, provincial, and federal updates and hope to reopen at the end of March, i...f the situation changes. We appreciate your understanding during this time, and we wish each of you and your loved ones good health through the coming weeks. In solidarity, The Family Physiotherapy & Sports Rehab team

Stretching 101 Hi all! As spring fights the good fight to take hold, you may be anticipating enjoying the outdoors - walking, running, cycling, rollerblading, or whatever activity brings you joy. Whether you are active (or plan to be) or not, proper stretching is essential to good health. The link below provides a nice visual so that you know what muscles you are stretching.... Here are a few basic rules for stretching: 1. It is good to stretch tight muscles a few times a week to release tension and to just "feel good" :) 2. DO NOT force the stretch. Do not "go through the pain". The "no pain, no gain" approach when it comes to stretching does not apply. It may, in fact, earn you unnecessary pain, swelling, and an unwanted visit to your doctor! 3. Be consistent and take your time. Your body will appreciate it (and so will you)! Hope this is helpful - enjoy :) http://www.lifehack.org//36-pictures-see-which-muscle-your

Hi folks! This is Andre the physiotherapist at Family Physio & Sports Rehab. Several clients have been asking me about Kinesio-Taping and whether it "really works." I did some research and came across an interesting article that shares some of its history, as well as current research about its efficacy. Dr. Nicholas Fletcher, an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Emory University, notes that there are "few large scientific studies regarding its effectiveness" an...d he also draws attention to the potential "placebo effect" of any treatment. Basically, if we believe or expect something to work, it is more likely to do exactly that! Remember, recovery/rehab is psychological as much as it is physical. So, chin up and stay positive ... and do your exercises! ;) If you have any personal experience with Kinesio-Taping, please share :) http://breakingmuscle.com/mobil/kinesio-taping-does-it-work
