Signs your child may have an anxiety disorder: It’s perfectly normal for your children to feel anxious occasionally. They may be nervous about an upcoming test at school, worried about who they’ll sit with at lunch, apprehensive about a change in their routine or stressed about a situation at home. But, anxiety in kids and teenagers doesn't always look how you'd expect. Anxiety disorders in children often develop after stressful life changes or events, like the loss of a love...d one or switching schools. Though they can be hereditary, it’s rare to see a purely biological mental health condition in children, especially younger children. Much of the time, what we see going on in kids are responses to their environment. Anxiety in children and teens has increased dramatically due to Covid-19. If you notice your child exhibiting symptoms of anxiety for 2 weeks or more, you may want to consult with a professional. CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) is useful in treating anxiety, but it does take patience. Sometimes it can take up to 6-8 weeks to see improvement. I specialize in CBT, so if you have any questions or concerns about your child please feel free to message me or leave a comment below Follow @susanfamilysupport for a helping hand Or www.familysupport.net for more tips and resources #anxietydisorder#anxietydisorders#anxiety#anxietyrelief#anxietyawareness#anxietysupport#anxietywarrior#anxietyrecovery#cbttherapy#cbt#familysupport#familytherapy#anxietyinchildren#toronto#mentalhealth#mentalhealthawareness#mentalhealthmatters#personaldevelopment#lifecoach#lifecoaching

You’re not imagining it, nobody seems to want to talk right now. Messages are brief and replies late. Talk of catch ups on zoom are perpetually put on hold. Gro...up chats are no longer pinging all night long. It’s not you. It’s everyone. We are spent. We have nothing left to say. We are tired of saying ‘I miss you’ and ‘I cant wait for this to end’. So we mostly say nothing, put our heads down and get through each day. You’re not imagining it. This is a state of being like no other we have ever known because we are all going through it together but so very far apart. Hang in there my friend. When the mood strikes, send out all those messages and don’t feel you have to apologise for being quiet. This is hard.No one is judging. Author Donna Ashworth See more

Your 'internal dialogue' is quite simply your thoughts. It is the little voice in your head that comments on your life, what is going on around you, or what you are thinking (consciously or sub-consciously). All of us have an internal dialogue, and it runs all the time.... Changing your inner dialogue is no easy task, but having an open and positive mindset is a game changer. Your personal self talk is what propels the choices you make for your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Just something as simple as changing your thinking can change your life. What are some positive mantras that you say to yourself to get you through the day? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! Being in Toronto, Canada, we’re in our second lockdown. Somehow this lockdown seems to be taking a different toll on people. Perhaps because it’s winter and we aren’t getting outside as much?... Whatever the reason, I know that people, including myself, are getting antsy, bored and are having a harder time staying motivated. Setting goals is so important, but having the energy to follow through and accomplish them can be difficult. For me, one of the best ways to keep accomplishing goals and stay motivated, is to write them down and break them up into small steps. The act of writing them down seems to help hold me accountable, while breaking them up makes each step less overwhelming and easier to accomplish. In the comments below let me know how you’re staying motivated!
