For those interested in the forensic genetic genealogy TV series featuring CeCe Moore, it premiers tomorrow (May 26th) on ABC. Should be interesting! While it is based on law enforcement, I'm sure there will be some great tips and techniques demonstrated for those with unknown ancestors.
I will be doing a short session for London Public Library next Thursday on using the Ancestry Library Edition website which is currently accessible from home for free using your London Public Library card. Feel free to register and join us!

Exciting new feature added to DNA Painter launched today. You can now see where specific SNPs are located that have an impact on you physical traits.
Just finished watching the Ancestry "What's New" and am very excited about the features implemented by Ancestry over the last year and what is to come. Specifically looking forward to the new messaging system that has been rolled out (soon to Canada) which will improve communications between users. Christa Cowan also dropped a hint about a feature being developed to link DNA matches to people in your tree which would be VERY helpful in keeping track of who you have already confirmed. #RootsTech
To those that are attending #RootsTech 2020, I hope you have a fantastic time! For those that are not able to travel in person, be sure to check out what's going on at the conference and watch the live streams at https://www.rootstech.org/! A fantastic opportunity to learn about what's going on in the genealogical community. #genealogy

I recently purchased a collection of photos, postcards and memorabilia belonging to the Curtis family of St. Thomas/Norfolk County that had been put up for sale on Facebook Marketplace. After speaking to the owner of the collection, I found out they had purchased it as part of an estate auction in St. Thomas years ago and were not related themselves. I felt it would be best to reunite it with either the owners or close family if possible. I picked them up and began piecing th...e information together. Initially, the included postcards were the most help as they had names and addresses listed. I then expanded my research to census records, birth, marriage and death records and anything else I could find that would add some depth to this pioneer family of Norfolk County. The primary surnames are CURTIS, DEDRICK, HICKS, MILLARD, HARRIS, SPURGEON and ORR and I have managed to trace back 4 generations of each line into the very early 1800s. I have scanned all of the photos which date back to the early 1900s or even earlier as well as the postcards and they can be accessed as a Google Photo collection at https://photos.app.goo.gl/cvob9xKBqgV2BpRS8. I have also provided a PDF of the Ancestors report for Grayce Marguerite Curtis (1919-1989) who, I believe, was the last owner of this collection which can be found at https://1drv.ms/b/s!AnmTe_W_UsYjg7lruAUkOPQYkYtcHg. If you are related to this family, please reach out to me at [email protected] or feel free to pass this along to anyone that you feel may be able to assist. I would love to get this collection into the hands of the family members that may be able to cherish them for years to come!

A fantastic turnout for the DNA Workshop in London this past Saturday. Lots of great learning going on and I think everyone that attended enjoyed it. Topics included DNA basics, match clustering, GEDmatch, DNA Painter, Rootsfinder DNA Tools as well as other native and 3rd party tools. Congrats to the winners of the DNA kit and Ancestry subscription! Stay tuned for other upcoming education opportunities!
