TRAINING TIP: Teach Your Horse to Soften to the Bit When you pick up on your reins while squeezing with your legs, does your horse immediately soften to the bit, tuck his nose in, and create slack in the reins? Or does he pull on the bit, brace his neck against it, and/or try to speed up instead?... Here is a great article with steps on how to soften up your horse, something I see many horse owners struggling with. I always tell people once you get the steps figured out consistently is key you have to ride with that hot potato give if you want to maintain softness. HORSE TRAINER & RIDING INSTRUCTOR WANTED! We are offering our facility to an outside trainer and instructor. I am homeschooling my kids this year therefor taking on less client horses and I will most likely not be offering any riding lessons this year. We will have private pens available for client horses. Trainer / Instructor will have use of our 100 x 180 indoor arena, and barn with tack & feed room. Trainer / Instructor will be in charge of providing their own clientele, references are required. Every horse I’ve got will tie up anywhere, any time, and won’t try to pull back. My training horses are all tied up 20 feet from each other from the start of the day to the last horse that gets rode. Teaching patience is extremely important. Photos from 2 day farrier clinic with Aaron Harbidge here at Fired Up. Micha took this clinic with Aaron and was absolutely blown away by the amount of information given in 2 days. Learning the basic foundations of hoof anatomy, conformation, trimming and hoof angles to be able to better assist our own horses. This clinic is not intended to turn the horse owner into a farrier however it is valuable information for the horse owner to have. If your horse blows a shoe and needs ...another shoe pulled, your farrier is booking weeks out and your horse needs a trim now, or your horse has developed a little flair or has a chip that needs rasping. You now have the knowledge and tools to assist your horse keep them properly set up between your farrier visits. We look forward to having Aaron back out for more clinics in the future. It was a great day for a farrier clinic with 9 students and lots of horses! Aaron Harbridge is absolutely amazing at explaining the foundation and importance of balanced trims. He has crammed a lot of important information into this 2 day clinic providing both the hands on practical work and the bookwork involved in learning hoof anatomy and foundations of trimming. The knowledge he has achieved through years of practice and as a Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School graduate has well equipped him to run these clinics and build the abilities of others.
