Prince Edward County has a long history of tourism. Did you know a HUGE Hotel and Resort was once built on Massassaga Point? In the 1800’s this most easterly ti...p of Ameliasburg was once a popular draw for hundreds of day visitors and tourists One sailing regatta drew 2000 guests alone! Special excursion boats toured from Rochester NY to the Thousand Islands and brought passengers to the Massassaga Point Hotel and Resort. Steamers docked at Rossmore, Rednersville Northport and Massassaga Point. Twelve OClock Point and Massassaga were very popular with the public with hundreds coming to the resorts every weekend. Beachward Bound in The County? STOP, READ! The tips below are essential knowledge: Sandbanks and North Beach Provincial Parks are *very busy* on weeke...nds. Thousands of day-use visitors are turned away each day when the beach is at capacity. Plan to visit mid-week or early morning/late afternoon. Follow Sandbanks PP on Twitter for up-to-the-minute info about closures. Wellington Rotary Beach has limited capacity and will close when full. On-site parking is $20 per vehicle on weekends/stat holidays. Check The County's website, Twitter (Shire_Hall) or Facebook for updates on beach closures. Little Bluff Conservation Area is CLOSED until further notice. Check Quinte Conservation's website for information on permitted use. Respect parking regulations at water access points. Parking fines are hefty and enforced. Please respect private property and do not trespass. Physical distancing is in effect, even on the beaches! Respect each others' space and leave at least 6ft between your social circle and others. Clean up after yourself. Be prepared to pack out your own garbage. If there is not a garbage bin nearby, take your garbage with you. The County is so much more than our beaches! Explore The County's incredible sights, flavours, shops, and talents. There are many places to catch a breeze, find some shade, quench your thirst and meet the people who make The County so special. Need ideas?
