The College now appears on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) updated list of designated learning institutions (DLIs). Our DLI number is O19361039982. Approval of our COVID-19 readiness plan means that Fanshawe is able to welcome approved international students with a Study Permit who are travelling to Canada, whether their program is being delivered fully online or in a blended format (combination of online and in-class delivery). The form includes helpful information about quarantine (you will need a quarantine plan), as well as travel and arrival information. Students must also have an approved Study Permit or a letter of introduction that shows students are approved for a Study Permit. Fanshawe's Centre for Research and Innovation has developed a new way to rapidly test potential COVID-19 drug treatments using artificial copies of the virus. D...r. Abdulla Mahboob and his research team created non-infectious copies of SARS-COV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19, which can be used to test drug options without requiring expensive biosafety level-2 laboratory setups. This will enable pharmaceutical companies to rapidly screen drugs for effectiveness using the lab-created 'replicons' instead of the infectious live virus itself. Fanshawe's team is now ready to work with a commercial partner to take this development beyond a college lab and help make it more accessible to treatment testing centres around the world. Separately from this, Dr. Mahboob’s team is also working with the U.S. National Institutes of Health right now to validate a possible COVID-19 treatment option developed at Fanshawe using peptide inhibitors. https://www.fanshawec.ca//lab-development-can-speed-valida

If you’re on campus, it’s critical to stay two metres apart from everyone and wear a mask. If you have symptoms, get tested (e.g. fever, cough, difficulty breathing, sore throat, runny nose, etc.).
