I have been spending a lot of time at the retreat house getting it fall ready. This is such a pretty time of year. We are open and following the government's intructions to wear a mask if you can't socially distance. We will not be having classes at this time. I just recieved my second order from Glengarry Cheesemaking . With these new ingredients I am going to try cream cheese, cheese curd, feta and farm house cheddar. Is anyone else learning something new while at home? I loooove learning how to make new things. Having patience to not make them all at once is another thing

Good Morning. I hope this finds everyone well. The retreat house is closed at this time and cannot wait to reopen as soon as its safe to do so. We are lucky at the farm that our routine is pretty much the same. And we have extra help with our boys being home ;) I try to find time each afternoon to sew some scrub caps for friends and family that are working in hospitals. ... We love our kittens, they brighten our day, so I thought I'd share them with you. Meet Larry, Darryl and Darryl.....

Here is the beast I was quilting a couple of weeks ago I had a couple of helpers stand on a wagon to hold it for me. It is king size and its for our bed. I used 10" blocks from my stash that are some favourites. And I quilted straight lines from side to side a few inches apart.

I went up to visit this crew at the retreat house tonight and to play a game. Winner takes all, in this case 40 fat quarters It was hilarious...and a little stressful And heres a small sample of what they have been working on.

Another new quilt for the house This pattern is called Stargazer. Its one of those patterns that looks completely different depending on your fabrics. I chose to use my scraps (I have a few ).

And todays project . Putting this quilt together, I couldn't imagine being able to fit all this fabric for a king size quilt through my machine. Good thing the boys are home ;) They were super excited to help me roll it up. Lol But its going to fit.

All the Kona solids in a panel I quilted between each colour block and bound it in white. It is now the table runner at the retreat house.

I saw a quilt online last year and HAD to find the pattern for myself. This one is called Shattered and I've added it to one of the upstairs beds at the retreat house.

Spring kids Classes For 8 Tuesdays in March and April (skipping March break) we will be working on a body pillow, a lunch/makeup bag and another item or 2 to be confirmed. We can decide these items together. The classes run from 6-9 on Tuesday nights. The cost for this course is... $160 +HST = $180.80. This amount is due to sign up your child. I have room for 3 students still. They will need a sewing machine and some basic sewing supplies (scissors, thread). I will provide the list of fabric they will need before each project begins. We have a lot of fun on Tuesday nights, so if you have someone excited to learn and wants to join us, let me know :)

It has been a great season at the retreat house :) Thank you so much to everyone who has come and to those who are booked to come still! I was part of the group that was there this past weekend and like we normally do, we had a blast I love these ladies!! Here are some of our projects.

Last night we had a 4-H group at the house making joey pouches. They were quick learners and did a great job. 4-H leaders are amazing.

Good morning :) I'm going to keep the house open on Thursday from 10-8 for anyone who wants to come help us sew some items for Austalia. I'm going to cancel Tuesday. I think 1 day will be sufficient. We are hosting a couple of days next week at the retreat house to work on some of these projects. I will post the info in the comment section.

Here's some information on our sewing days to help the animals in Australia. I know we all want to help the poor animals, here are some free sewing days if you can join us. Tuesday, January 14th, 10-8... And Thursday, january 16th, 10-8 At the retreat house Friday, january 17th, 9-4 at the Forfar Community Hall What to bring - your sewing machine and sewing tools, your lunch/supper, and prewashed flannel and/or cotton if you have some to donate. Both places have - ironing boards, irons, cutting mats, rotary cutters, some fabric, the patterns, tea and coffee. We will deliver these supplies to the local drop off hub and they in turn will take them to the airlines. All at no cost to us, we just need to sew. We began a new project this week. We are going to sew these squares together, cut them apart, and sew them back together. ;) We love quilting
