In an Interview with Randy Taylor I was asked what I thought about 2020 in general. My immediate response was, Never read a book by its cover. I have always b...een the person who plans ahead and wants the future to go a certain way. Half way through this year, I stopped, re-evaluated and let go of the cover page. In trust that my book is going to be written in faith just the way it is meant to be. No one planned for this year to go in the direction that it has, but we are learning so much along the way. A few lessons taken away from the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Arlington, TX. We can’t be in control of the future, but we can know our morals, and make sure to live by them every single day, no matter the circumstance. In person communication is 100% better than anything online, and I am so thankful for the relationships I made over the span of 14 days. With the lack of events, we can easily forget that rodeo truly is one big family, and that the camaraderie displayed in this sport is second to none. No one is perfect, and we are all human. Easily judged are the athletes competing when you are watching. When you learn their stories, see their efforts and raw emotion behind the scenes - you wish you could share it with everyone. With the heavy snow that hit yesterday in Southern Alberta many Farmers and Ranchers spent their day caring for their cattle. Ensuring their livestock is healthy is their #1 priority. A message from CPRA President - Terry Cooke "All of us would love to be heading to Red Deer right now and getting ready for CFR47. Unfortunately, that can’t hap...pen this year. But instead, we can spend some time reflecting back on the wonderful Canadian Finals Rodeo that 2019 brought us and look ahead to the return of professional rodeo and the CFR in 2021. I want to offer special congratulations to the CPRA athletes, stock contractors and their four-legged partners who will soon be making their way to Arlington, Texas for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Closer to home, it’s exciting to see CPRA Committee Reps, Shane Crouch and Lloyd Gray, orchestrating a meeting of our rodeo committees for Nov 21st. It will be great to see everyone get together and start planning for 2021. I'm sure some good ideas will come out of this meeting. We have also been in regular contact with Alberta Health Services authorities and continue to work closely with them in planning for next year’s rodeo season. We’re all aware that we will have to make changes in how we do business from now on but l am confident that we will overcome the challenges the pandemic has brought us. I believe that our existence depends on all of us being more creative if we want to continue to prosper. The western way of life is very dear to us all and we have to stick together to keep it going.
