East Central Scholarships Students from East Central area Durham, Haliburton, Peterborough, City of Kawartha Lakes (Victoria), York are eligible. Enrolled in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year at a post-secondary institution or agricultural college. Twelve scholarships in the amount of $1000 - selection takes into account academic performance, leadership, contribution to community, involvement in rural youth organizations, with emphasis on conservation and environmental goals. This one-day EFP workshop is especially designed to be time efficient and take learning to the next level for those who have previously completed an EFP. When: November 24th (10am- 3:30 pm)... Where: Douro Community Centre Besides a great opportunity to ensure you are operating with the Best Management Practices, having an EFP completed within the past 5 years is a requirement to apply for most cost share grant opportunities. Organic Farming Research Foundation announces free online Basics of Organic Farming This self-directed training program is designed for beginning farmers, existing organic farmers, and farmers in transition to organic production. The content focuses on organic orchard and vegetable crop production in California, but is based on foundational principles that are relevant to all organic farmers and our hope is that growers across the U.S. find it to be a useful resource.
