I got this testimonial from clients I wrapped up with recently and I was blown away when I read it. Hearing that they felt no question was met with surprise or judgment hit me because that is what I hope every parent feels. There is SO much judgment for parents. How your kid sleeps, where they sleep, if you sleep train, if you don't sleep train, what your child eats, what your parenting style is. The list is endless. I always want the families I work with to know that conver...sations with me are a judgment-free zone. We're in this together and I have their backs 100%. Here is the full testimonial: We wanted our four month old baby boy to be able to sleep solo (not on mom!) and to sleep for longer stretches. We had a great experience working with Rachel. We were successful in having our baby sleep in his crib (for the first time) and sleep for longer, uninterrupted stretches. We were successful mainly due to Rachel being SO available and communicative throughout the entire process. Any questions we had were answered immediately, so we never felt as though we were on our own or had to make a decision that ended up being wrong. I would say that Rachel is as good as it gets in terms of sleep training. She is professional yet compassionate, and knows what she is talking about. No question was met with surprise or judgment. #sleeptrainingsuccess #sleeptraining #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #sleep #babysleep #babysleephelp #babysleepexpert #parenting #fastasleep

Okay so it’s just a bit windy today. No matter what I did, my hair was in my face. But it’s SUNNY! It almost feels like spring. I love warmer weather but I always used to hate the clocks changing at this time of year. Then I had kids and now the spring forward DST change is the easy one! When they wake up on Sunday at their usual time it will aaaaaalmost feel like we all slept in. ... If you're worried about your little one adapting to the change on Sunday, click the link in my bio to find tips on how to make the change as easy as possible. #springforward #daylightsavingstime #sleep #babysleep #toddlersleep #babysleeptips #toddlersleeptips #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #sleeptraining #parenting #fastasleep

Anyone who's delved into the world of pediatric sleep has probably come across Dr. Weissbluth's book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child". He is a pediatrician and sleep disorders specialist at the Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. This man knows what he is talking about. This quote is from his book and I love it because it touches on something that comes up frequently when I speak to parents. If a child is struggling to get to sleep at bedtime or their naps, it's a na...tural impulse to put them down later. Maybe they're just not tired enough! But, especially with babies and toddlers, this will only make it harder for them to get to sleep. If you are overtired when you lay down to sleep, your body's response to being overtired makes it HARDER to go to sleep and stay asleep. Surfing is a great analogy (although, take that with a grain of sea salt because this is coming from someone who's never surfed). But here we go: If you catch a wave too early, you won't get up. If you catch it too late, you'll crash. If you want to ride the wave, you have to catch it at the right time. That's why sleep consultants always talk about getting little ones down to sleep earlier. We want them to be able to catch that sleep wave before it's too late. #sleep #infantsleep #infantsleeptips #babysleep #babysleephelp #babysleepexpert #toddlersleep #toddlersleephelp #toddlersleepexpert #sleeptraining #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #parenting #healthyfamily #healthysleephabits #healthysleephabitshappychild #naps #earlybedtime #babynaps #toddlernaps #fastasleep

I've been working on a new Fast Asleep project and my kids have never been more interested in my work gear. I let them play with it the other day. One sang and the other one recorded a stand-up routine #workingfromhome #workingfromhomelife #workingfromhomewithkids #newproject #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #fastasleep

It's been a long couple of months around here. I know I'm not the only one who feels that way. Having the boys home full-time learning virtually was beautiful and challenging, sweet and exhausting. I got to hear my kindergartener interacting with his friends and see my son in grade 1 light up every time he got an answer right. But I also didn't have time to do some of the things I normally do while they're at school (ahem, apparently like posting on social media). I got thi...s message from a client I was working with last month and it was such a small thing but it reminded me that there was more to my days than just being a snack-getter and technical-difficulty-fixer. I love being a mom but I really needed that message. #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #sleepconsultingsuccess #parenting #lovewhatido #fastasleep

This guy had to write down what I do for a living as part of a school project. He wrote, "Help babies sleep". Yep. That pretty much sums it up. #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #sleeptraining #lovewhatido #babysleephelp #babysleepexpert #toddlersleephelp #toddlersleepexpert #fastasleep

I work with so many babies who are 4 to 6 months of age. It’s the perfect time to establish long, healthy naps and to teach your little one to sleep through the night except for when they need to nurse or bottle-feed. The transition parents make from sleep-deprived and frustrated to rested and confident is so much fun to witness. And the best part is their surprise at how much calmer and more content their baby is once they're sleeping well. This testimonial came from a lov...ely mom I just wrapped up working with. Once again, I'm so grateful that she took the time to write about her success. The full testimonial is: Working with Rachel happened to be the BEST investment I have ever made for Alina! We spend so much on baby cribs and strollers and clothes and god knows what - but when it comes to services like sleep consulting we are like umm do I really need this? The answer for me is that I didn’t even know how badly I needed this! Two major results of me working with Rachel: 1.) Alina is a healthy little sleeper now and is amazing at self soothing 2.) Rachel has made me feel confident about my instincts when it comes to reading Alina’s cues. I am much more confident in making a call about her nap times and bed time than I was before. Rachel was always available to answer all my questions - no matter how silly they were! She was great at communicating what we need to do and always provided me with reasons and logic behind what we were doing. That made me trust her and made it easy for me to reach out to her for any concerns. If you’re thinking about working with Rachel, DO IT. It’s the best $275 you’ll EVER spend on your baby. I have known people who have sleep trained on their own, and their anxiety levels were 10 times more than mine - just because I had Rachel and didn’t have to second guess anything. If not for your baby, do it for yourself. #sleeptraining #sleeptrainingsuccess #lovewhatido #sleep #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #parenting #babysleep #babysleephelp #babysleepexpert #babynaps #sleepingthroughthenight #wellrested #healthysleephabitshappychild #naps #fastasleep

This quote is from Marc Weissbluth's book, Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. The full passage is, "It takes time for your child to develop strength, coordination, balance, and confidence to 'learn' to walk. It takes time for your baby to develop night sleep consolidation, regular and long naps, and self-soothing skills to 'learn' to sleep well."... Sleep training can be a real test of your patience. You're already exhausted, and now you're trying to respond to your baby or toddler in away that is loving and also teaches them the skills they need to sleep well. And this is usually happening in the middle of the night. A bad nap after a few good days of napping, a disrupted night after nights had been improving, the ups and downs are frustrating. You're not failing. Your little one is learning. If you keep going and follow through until the end, you will achieve your sleep goals for them. It takes time, and that's okay. So, whatever approach you're using, hang in there, stay consistent, and things will come together! #sleep #sleeptraining #sleeptrainingsuccess #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #parenting #babysleep #babysleephelp #babysleepexpert #healthysleephabitshappychild #fastasleep

The number one predictor of sleep training success is parental consistency. That's why it's so important to have the right approach for you and your little one. Knowing what to do is half the battle. The other half of that battle is to follow through. That's why working with a sleep consultant can help you to achieve sleep success for your family. Not only will you know exactly how to respond to your baby, toddler, or young child during the night or their naps. You also have... someone there to support you through the process, like a personal trainer. And for those moments during the night when being consistent is the most difficult, sometimes a few motivational notes on your son or daughter's door can remind you that you can do this, and they can too! If you need some support with your little one's sleep, book a free 15-minute call using the Book button on the Fast Asleep Consulting business page. #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #sleeptraining #sleeptrainingsuccess #sleep #parenting #babysleephelp #babysleepexpert #babysleep #toddlersleep #toddlersleephelp #toddlersleepexpert #infantsleep #infantsleeptips #naps #babynaps #toddlernaps #fastasleep

A lot of parents wonder if a night light will help their little one sleep better at night. The two big questions are: Should I use a night light in my child's room? -and-... What kind of night light is best? If your little one is less than three years of age, a night light probably won't help them during the night. Three years old is when a child's imagination really takes off, and that's when you may notice that your son or daughter has some nighttime fears. So, if you have a baby or toddler, the darker the room the better it is for the quality of their sleep. If you have a child who is three or older, then a night light may be good for them. If your child has become afraid of the dark when they wake during the night, a small amount of light can help them to see there's nothing to be afraid of. And it's also helpful for them in case they need to use the bathroom during the night. WHAT KIND OF NIGHT LIGHT IS BEST? When choosing your child's night light, remember that very white or blue light can stimulate the production of serotonin, making it harder to sleep. You want to choose a night light that is just bright enough to cast a small amount of light through the room but is still dim. A deep orange glow is a good colour. Shortly after my younger son turned three, he began to talk about being scared when it was too dark in his room. We got him a Himalayan salt night light. I know there are lots of benefits to these but, honestly, we just chose it because it had the warmest glow of all of the lights at our local store and it did the trick! #nightlight #nightlights #sleep #babysleep #toddlersleep #parenting #sleepconsultant #sleepconsulting #sleeptraining #fastasleep
