WE ARE SO EXCITED! Our staff have started receiving the COVID-19 vaccine! Hope is in the air!! May we continue to pray for protection over our staff and residents, as it will take some time until the vaccination of both staff and residents is completed.

Although "Our Lady of Providence" chapel at Providence Care Centre is closed to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions, Bishop Cooney gracefully agreed to bless the crib this morning as we remember that Jesus is the reason for Christmas. From his blessing: "Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation;... you have sent your Son as the promised Saviour of the world sop that He might share with us your divine life. Bless us as we prepare this crib, and let it be a reminder of the Lord Jesus, who was born of the Virgin Mary in the City of David. Grant that we may always serve you in faith as did the angels, praise you for your saving deeds as did the shepherds, and surround you with the warmth of our love, as did the animals of the stable. Glory and praise to you, eternal God, through Jesus Christ our Saviour, who lives with you and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen

BIG SHOUT OUT to Calgary Landscape for making sure our parking lot was clean for our night staff to leave, and for our day staff to arrive. And also THANK YOU to all the husbands, friends, neighbors, and perfect strangers for driving our afternoon staff to work! So many staff called saying they were stranded in their communities and people from all over came out to help. It takes a whole community to care for our residents!

We cared for Sr. Joan's mother in Father Lacombe Care Centre in the late 90's, and she has always held us up in her prayers. At this time, as we experience this global pandemic, I give thanks for all those who, over the years, have lived through much suffering and seeming...ly insurmountable difficulties while keeping these precious candles burning.....To- day,as well, I thank God for the many people who continue to fan the flames of the four candles This Christmas I am grateful for them all.....and for YOU because you have blessed my life as you lived the gifts symbolized by these four lighted candles. In the spirit of that first Christmas, I join with you in praying that Peace, Faith, Love and,especially Hope be the Christmas gift each person receives this year and that together we may do all we can to keep these lights burning no matter the darkness.
