Did you know that SLPs are also responsible for assessing and treating swallowing difficulties? If anyone is curious where your food and drinks go once you swallow check out the cool X-ray video in this link showing everything moving down the throat and into the esophagus (the tube that connects down to the stomach)!! Everything works really well when we are young but can slow down a bit when we are older as seen in the comparison videos!

Never ever thought 'virtual care' sessions (the new term we are using in the SLP world instead of telepractice), would give me the chance to be a Cheerleader... Saying, "that sounded amazing" or "that was such a nice sentence you made" just doesn't seem to come across as exciting as pom poms filling up the screen!!
