On these rainy, cool days of winter, we send our warmest holiday wishes out to everyone in our FCRCC family. We all have faced a challenging 2020, but it has been eased by the many contributions from club members, volunteers, and stafffrom bailing our OC6s that sits forlornly in the Burrard Compound, to ensuring we are following Provincial Health protocols and to just being willing to be flexible in these difficult circumstances. Thanks as well to the coaches who trained pad...dlers in our OC1 clinics, Marathon canoe lessons, and Flatwater programs. Thanks as well to those who helped haul our dragon boats into storage at Emily Carr and those who organized fun events like the Battle of the Boats and the Hallowe'en Pumpkin Relay Race and finally, the volunteers that assisted the dock staff on many a dark morning. All these contributions and many more are greatly appreciated. Contributing to the Vancouver Foodbank... Christmas is almost upon us! Here's an update on our Holiday hours and Closure days: Please be advised that Small Boat Reservations will be closed between Thursday, December 24th and Sunday, January 3rd. This is in alignment with the Community Center's closure for the holidays where our main water source comes from for cleaning and sanitizing our boats after use. Without water access, we are unable to open for club boat reservations.... Our booking system will reopen Wednesday, December 30th at 8:00 PM for reservations starting on Monday, January 4th. Private boat owners' access will not be affected, however, if you wish to clean your boat after use, you will need to bring your own cleaning supplies.

Hope you are all staying safe and healthy during these, still, odd times! If you haven't been up to date on the latest happenings of the PHO orders, here's the latest: The guidelines and restrictions have been extended until January 8, 2021. We expect all club members to abide by the restrictions including the 'no travel for sport' requirement. We do not have the ability to verify addresses at all times, and given that the alternative is to completely close the club, we trus...t that members will make the right decisions based on the PHO guidelines. For each pandemic tee and mask sale, a few dollars come back to the Club. The money raised will be added to our Athlete's Fund which supports club members when they compete under the Club banner or as a Team Canada athlete at international competitions. Ready for another Club 5K Time Trial?! We are!! Check the roster out for your name and please note if you are in HEAT 2, to possibly arrive a bit earlier to avoid congestion on the dock. Final Rosters are in for tomorrow Halloween Pumpkin Relay!! Please note: There have been some changes to the roster from the original version, OC's are in heat 1 with 2 minute staggered starts to space everyone out. Flatwater heats are heat 2 - 5 and will have a slightly modified race route. If you are sticking around to watch the Halloween Pumpkin relay, please be curious to others and respect the 2m social distancing plus wearing face masks. :) ...
