Archaeologists expose evidence of precontact cultures at the Fleur de Lys Soapstone Quarry. Field work at the quarry was begun in the early 1980s by archaeologi...sts Christopher Nagle and Callum Thomson. It was not until excavations by Nagle in 1997, however, that Dorset Palaeoeskimos could be directly associated with the quarry. It is now a Registered Historic Site. Please be aware that a bear has been sited near museum. Not sure how close as tourist reported that it was up on a rock. Told Jessica who is working our front desk/gift shop that we should keep the door to museum closed. So not sure how close it is. Wildlife has been called.
