Although there were a few glitches with the live stream we are thrilled that we had the opportunity to honor and converse with this year's honoree Dr. Vicky Tagalakis.
Wonderful post! https://youtu.be/Jb9aamNfTLU
For those that were asking about Lydia Scalcos's poem, here it is for your reading pleasure.
Did you know that we have a poet on our board? Here is a poem written by our board member Lydia Scalcou, who has been on the board since its foundation, recited by our board member Helen Bligouras.
What does women's empowerment mean to you? For us, it's giving every woman the voice to express herself, in various ways. Here is Angeliki Kritikos, Electra board member since 1995, singing a song about Patience, so needed during these difficult times. Angeliki is always a source of guidance for us. Thank you Angeliki!
Once again, without bringing politics into the conversation, the depiction of our MP Lambropoulos being slapped, and others lining up to do the same, as a response to her comments is a clear indication of how much work still needs to be done. Violence against women is UNACCEPTABLE! La Presse should issue an apology. Freedom of speech is one thing, depicting violence against women another.
A word of Thanks!
On this lovely Sunday a few members of the board of directors went to the Parc to enjoy a day outdoors. Some of our members came to join us. We can’t express how wonderful our afternoon was. We social distanced, we wore our masks and found a creative way to follow the government directives and support the women at the same time. Some did yoga, some danced, but all had a great time. Thank you!
One of the most powerful pictures I've seen today. Would like to give the author credit but the author is unknown. #progress
A Woman in the White House! Whatever your political beliefs are, we hope we can agree that this is a wonderful step for women. Bravo! ! , . ! Fun fact, did you know that 40 years ago, Ms. Harris attended Westmount High School in Montreal!
Hello to all! A quick check of the forecast shows that Sunday is going to be a beautiful day. A few of the members of the board of directors plan on going to Parc Berthiaume-Du-Tremblay, at 2pm, and sit in the sun (socially distancing of course!) with our coffees and snack (picnic style). If you happen to be in the area and want to say hello, come on by! We miss our members. 60 Promenade des Îles, Laval, QC H7W 2P8 (Park can be seen from Levesque as well.)
