Calling all fitness professionals, athletes, & gym goers! Please take this survey to help us plan some exciting events for Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2018. We are focusing on "helping, not harming" in the fitness industry, where eating disorders and body image concerns run rampant. Together we can create a new way of being, where all people are treated with respect, and there is no longer a focus on weight loss, "bikini bodies", and unachievable ideals.

Hey all ! Here is an awesome article (that was shared in a dietitian forum I am a part of) on why we are invited to give ourselves full permission to eat, a brief introduction to the concept of Intuitive Eating and support to fight against getting sucked into the "diet mentality" . I especially like this quote: ..."Nutrition has nothing to do with judgement, restriction, or anxiety. It has to do with nourishment" and ONE MORE ;)... "When we have internalized permission to eat, 'we start to have the natural toddler's desire to have a full range of foods......'" Thank you Elyse Resch !! - - hope you enjoy the quick read :) And one last thing- if this seems impossible or you disagree I would love to connect and start a conversation ! http://www.refinery29.com/gentle-nutrition-intuitive-eating

Happy Saturday all!! Something for us all to chew on... What if BARBIE was a REAL WOMAN? 1. NECK: With a neck twice as long and 6 inches thinner than the average woman, Barbie would be incapable of lifting her head.... 2. WAIST: With a 16 inch waist (smaller than her head) Barbie only has room for half a liver and a few inches of intestine. 3. WRISTS: Don't ask Barbie to do any heavy lifting. With 3.5 inch wrists and her ankle size, she would be physically incapable of doing any (heavy) lifting. 4. FEET: With 6 inch ankles, child's size 3 feet and the way her weight is distributed, Barbie would be incapable of walking and would have to resort to being on all fours to get around. ** BE YOU- you do that best!

I've been slacking lately with posts - but a friend of mine reminded me of a TV Commercial I saw over the Christmas Holidays and just had to share it with all of you!! Food is about so much more than "energy in"- its about connection and breaking down barriers to communication and loving and serving one another. I'm pretty easy to tear up at things - this video was no exception . Enjoy ! #eattogether https://www.bing.com/videos/search

Eating Disorder Awareness Week is fast approaching. From February 1-7th there will be a nationwide focus raising awareness and breaking the stigma that surrounds Eating Disorders. I am happy to be volunteering with a great group of individuals here in Calgary this year. We have some exciting things planned and are inviting all to participate if desired ! We will be getting the week PROCLAIMED down at city hall, smashing some weight scales with sledgehammers (yyyaaaahh!), showing a play based on one woman's own recovery from an Eating Disorder sponsored by Vertigo theatre, and hosting a paint night event promoting self care and a social evening out with friends to name a few. If you want more details check out this link or feel free to contact me ! www.EDSNA.ca/Edaw-Calgary.html
