FEED Monteverde Food Bank

We started the Monteverde Food Bank in early May, and in the Monteverde area currently have registered over 100 families, with several hundred more in need. In early June, with the funds raised to date and the assistance of a contribution of dry foods from Ben and the GREATER TAMARINDO FOOD BANK & HELP COMMUNITY, we were able to do our first distribution to 103 families in Santa Elena, Cabeceras, and San Luis de Monteverde. The joy and relief on people's faces when they received their bag full of precious staple foods was priceless.

In the early hours of June 4th, a determined troop of volunteers met to clear the paths and garden spaces of a facility previously used as a butterfly garden. After hours of raking, chainsawing, hauling, and clearing, and in spite of a downpour of Cloud Forest rain, we are ready for these spaces to become a test/training garden and the greenhouses are ready to host flats of seedlings that we will plant and germinate to become part of the regenerative, biodynamic garden that w...ill expand to feed those in need.
