Hearts for Christmas is a Feed Nova Scotia campaign rooted in the belief that every child should have the opportunity to find a little something under the tree on Christmas morning, and every parent should know the joy of picking out that special gift for their child. Make this your yearly tradition: www.feednovascotia.ca/hearts-for-christmas
Matching gift alert! One week from today on December 1, Sobeys will match financial donations to Feed Nova Scotia up to $25,000 on Giving Tuesday! Make plans to DOUBLE your impact!
The special ingredient to #hfxBurgerWeek is LOVE. In a very difficult year, this event has not only surpassed a milestone but also demonstrated the resiliency of The Coast, Halifax's Weekly, our beloved restaurants and the unwavering support of each and every one of you. That is one delicious outcome.
Last year, with your support, we distributed 4,166 turkeys and we know we'll need at least that many this season. Learn more: https://www.feednovascotia.ca/donate-christmas-turkeys
Please take a moment and read this joint statement from Shelter Nova Scotia, Phoenix Youth Programs, Adsum for Women & Children, and Out of the Cold Community Association, four of our member agencies. After you read it, get on the phone, email, or social media and tell your elected official you read it and ask them to take action. These organizations, and so many more in our community, are trying to do the impossible amidst a housing crisis, compounded by a pandemic. As they say, "It is a matter of life and death."
Some of the staff from the Regional Independent Students Association - RISA joined our Zoom meeting yesterday to share about the incredible work they do with youth in our community. We're so proud to support their efforts. Please give their page a follow and learn more about their amazing organization! https://www.facebook.com/Regional-Independent-Students-Association-RISA-354934818492796/
A HUGE thanks to GIVETOLIVE who set a goal to raise $25,000 and 2,500 lbs of food for Feed Nova Scotia. Our staff challenged themselves and successfully raised funds and carried food from Halifax to Bedford. It was an impactful day for all. Fundraising will continue through to December 15th: https://www.givetolive.ca/the-big-feed/
