Hello Fehr-Way friends - Eric Holland here. We are making our way through 2021 with a sense of optimism. We are already in February and spring isn't too far off. Vaccines are being distributed, and that should continue to ramp up as new versions are approved and made available. My reason for posting has to do with the sad news of Christopher Plummer's passing last week. He was a great man and a very skilled actor. He was born in Toronto and was trained as a Shakespearian acto...r. Perhaps his most significant role was as Captain von Trapp in the 1965 movie 'The Sound of Music'. Hearing the news reminded me of the Fehr-Way Tours' Blue Danube river cruise, I had the privilege to host in May 2019. While on that tour we visited Salzburg, Austria, where much of the movie was filmed. We also spent a day in and around Mondsee, Austria, the Basilica site where the wedding of Maria and Captain von Trapp was filmed for the movie. A few months after our return we had a reunion lunch together, and I played a slideshow I put together of some of the photos taken during our time in Europe. I thought some might enjoy the pictures, so I am posting it here. I hope you enjoy it. The background music was from an evening of classical music we enjoyed while in Vienna. Take good care of one another. We will come out on the other side of this, and when we do, I hope to see you again. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us at Fehr-Way Tours! We wish you health, happiness and hope for a bright future ahead. This past year has been like no other that we have experienced in our 41 years. Like many of you, we started 2020 enthusiastically but soon realized our plans for fun and travel were no match for a global pandemic.... While it was heartbreaking to cancel all those tours and disappoint the many travellers who had booked, we appreciate everyone's patience and understanding that health and safety come first. After almost a year of lockdowns, with effective vaccines and rapid testing on the horizon, we are patiently waiting for the inevitable easing of travel restrictions. Our hope is once we receive the "all clear", the appetite for travel will be as strong as it was before, and the last thing people will want to do is stay home, watch tv, and order in. If anything, this year has made us realize two things: nothing is more important than your health, and there is no greater privilege than being able to travel. While we aim to start long touring again in Fall 2021, and day tours before then, we do have many tours already booked and are taking the information of interested guests to be contacted when the time is right. Though we remain apart, for now, we are getting closer to normalcy; so, I would like to send you good tidings of days to come when we can once again enjoy the company of friends and the sound of laughter on the open road.
