LOCAL TEAM GIVES FERAL CATS A HELPING HAND - By MICHELLE JANZEN (Shelburne Free Press April 7, 2016) Sharon Morden always had a love and compassion for our feline friends. In January 2012, however, she put this love and compassion into action, starting the Feral Cat Rescue. The small group started working in the City of Owen Sound and now are based in Shelburne. Their mission is to humanely Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR) feral cats that reside in barns, towns and rural... properties. This non-profi t organization operates entirely on donations from individuals, Ms. Morden tells us. Donations of food, litter and cat-related supplies are always welcome, as well as the donation of your time as a volunteer. I am always looking for help and students can work off their community school service hours with us. When you donate to Feral Cat Rescue, your money goes towards traps, food, neutering, veterinary care and any medicine required. At this time, Ms. Morden notes they are pretty much at capacity with close to 25 cats, most of which are ready to find their forever home. With limited space Morden says they are always looking for foster homes and will provide litter boxes and food for anyone wanting to become a foster parent. When you adopt a pet from Feral Cat Rescue, and for any reason the adoption does not work out, they insist that the cat be returned to them so they can make sure the cat finds the right forever home. As always, Feral Cat Rescue offers local residents of Shelburne, Orangeville, Owen Sound and surrounding areas, an opportunity to spay or neuter your cat for $75 with the Spay and Neuter clinic. Feral Cat Rescue will transport your cat to and from the Clinic for a donation of $40 per cat. For more information, please contact Sharon Morden at Feral Cat Rescue at 519-278-0707, go to www.feralcatrescue.ca or Like Feral Cat Rescue on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ pages/Feral-Cat-Rescue. Burrito and Pepper, above, are BFFs These two are inseparable and Sharon Morden of Feral Cat Rescue is hoping that they can be adopted together. PHOTO BY MICHELLE JANZEN

DO YOU KNOW THIS CAT? This female cat has been living under a deck in Orangeville at Willow Crescent and Riverside Drive (Hockley Road and Hwy 10) for a year. We trapped her and took her in to be spayed but she was already spayed. She was given vaccines and dewormed and treated for fleas. No Microchip. She is nervous but we are now able to pet her. She was once someones pet. She is Black and White, long hair and guessed to be 3 - 4 years old. Please contact Feral Cat Rescue if you know anything about this cat. 519-278-0707. Please look back in posts you may have seen a year ago for someone missing this cat. Thanks Everyone!
