Storytelling. It’s a powerful tool and it’s our favourite thing to do. Every house has a story and we love to share these stories. It brings to mind an amazing story that we were told just before Christmas (albeit entirely unrelated to selling homes). My niece’s BFF’s sister was waiting for her mum to pick her up from the dentist’s office in London. She was outside, alone in the street, crying because her mum wasn’t answering the phone and she was unable to reach her. Sh...e was standing alone on the street in tears when a man and his wife approached her, concerned about the state she was in. He asked her what was wrong and if she was ok. He waited there with her until her mum arrived and she was safely retrieved. The man was Sir Paul McCartney. Of course she had no idea who he was! Today’s final instalment is our copy of T’was the Night Before Christmas, given by my parents to the kids when they were 3 and 1. Sean read it to them before bed every Christmas Eve (and then sometimes we had to give them Gravol because they couldn’t sleep, but that’s another story ). It’s been one heck of a year for everyone. I’m reposting a thought from one of my favourite artist’s today, @raycaesar1111. The image shown here is one of our original Ray Caesar studies for a much larger piece. It’s a difficult time for many of us right now, for so many reasons, big or small. One of my many imagined anxieties is a form of agoraphobia, the fear of the outside world, and in my case, an overwhelming astonishment of how huge the sky is above my head. Each day I force myself to put on my coat and shoes ...and hitch up my little rat terrier "Finnegan" in his vestments and venture out for what I call "My Daily Constitutional". This year I was so fortunate to be asked to take part in the #PaddleAuction, to raise funds for Camp Oochigeas, for kids and families affected by childhood cancer. The auction has been live for a few weeks, finishing at 8pm last night. What a shock for me to find out that there was actually a bidding war for my paddle! The winner was my friend @cathyacs...and she was determined to own the paddle that I painted! The event raised over 1M+ which is pretty unbelievable in such crazy times. Having faced my own mortality this year, I am starting to understand what children and families must go through when forced to battle a life changing illness. I was so honoured to take part in such a meaningful event and truly hope to be asked back next year. Sending much love to @campoochigeas @campooch #paddleauction #campooch
