Attention Rishikesh - It’s time to pay back! There was a mass glacier (ice berg) burst in the upper Alaknanda valley. Uttarakhand government have taken a qui...ck action by stopping the Bhagirathi dam release and releasing the Srinagar dam earlier so the lake is empty for the flood water. However according to the local info - there was a mass number of casualties who were not lucky to escape from the valley on time. Very sad and unfortunate. There are still people missing in the valley. Our local Rishikesh Kayakers(river guides) can play a critical role to rescue or recover bodies. Note - Please be aware that there is always a high risk involved when performing any rescue or recovery operations in or after flood. Electric wires, metal debris, hazardous materials, debris stuck/strainers causing extreme danger for the rescuers, no escape routes, new form of Rapids etc. Please prepared accordingly and be prepared to expect or deal with such danger - If we could get about 8-10 good volunteer kayakers who are willing to help with the rescue or casualty recovery operations then please get in touch with Mr. Praveen Ranger.
