We finally managed to track down a #tb photo of the popular Hawaiian theme nights that used to take place every summer. This photo from the late 1970's shows everyone gathered on the pool deck to watch the dancing after dinner.

We're lucky to have a pair of Trumpeter swans call Fern Resort home for most of the year. This season they raised 4 cygnets and it looks like one of them is still hanging with mom and dad. Our swan pair seems happy to feed on the aquatic plants in the bay though as the winter ice moves in, they are likely to migrate to where they can find open water.

It's tulip planting time. Every fall our gardener, Julia, plants dozens of tulip bulbs around the Main Inn for a spectacular spring display. This was the perfect week of warm weather to finish this monumental task. We'll post the results in May! #fallplanting #ontariosallinclusive #behindthescenes

Update on Mary Lou's renovation: new ceiling ready for drywall, new pot light fixtures roughed in, dark wood accents painted and first coat of pale blue on the walls.

Last week we posted a #tbt accommodation photo from a 1960's brochure and asked everyone if they recognized the room. After much debate both on Facebook and Insta (and in the office), we all agree that the photo was taken in one of the Bayshore Cottages. The detail that puzzled a lot of us was the door on the left side of the room which doesn't exist anymore. This photo from the same time period shows the cottages with the original driveway in front and the entrance door close to the front. Mystery solved! Thanks to everyone who commented and added their thoughts. Kudos to Laurie Clark and @emlangfeld who came up with the answer.

The lake may be cold as the fall weather rolls in, but our pools are heated! This year for the first time, we decided to heat our large pool to extend the season. It's been a popular decision! It's a great way to enjoy the fall sunshine. December weekends are the perfect time to plan an early Christmas get together at Fern and touch base with your nearest and dearest. With two hundred acres of beautiful lakeside property, we have lots of space for everyone to spread out and enjoy the great outdoors. Though hugging is not in the cards, shared laughter and time spent together while making memories is.

Over the last few weeks we've been posting kudos about our staff who have been working very hard under some pretty difficult conditions. We'd like to thank all of our departments for rising to the challenge and doing an incredible job! Our kitchen staff have learned to prep and cook meals while masked - a task made even harder as the heat rises in the kitchen. As always, the kitchen rose to the occasion, sending out mouthwateringly delicious meals to our hungry guests. A #shoutout to Chef Dawn and her amazing kitchen team for keeping our guests well-fed and happy. We are missing some team members in these photos because of scheduling conflicts and of course everyone who isn't masked is from the same social bubble.

Looking back to the lazy, hot summer, here are a few photos from our Sunday Night Ski Show. We were thrilled to be able to put on a show with all the challenges of social distancing. Many of our skiers live in the same household so they were able to modify and still perform some of their tricks. From crazy clowns to dazzling jumps and feats of acrobatics, our skiers put on an amazing display for our guests, week after week. Thanks to Evan and Ryleigh for their great pics!
