A year after being forced to cancel its spring food drive, a very different-looking Stratford House of Blessing is appealing to the community for donations as it attempts to fill a demand that only seems to be growing.

We are officially kicking off the 2020 Basketeer Campaign. The official Basketeer date for this year is November 21, 2020. This year, we are reimagining the Bas...keteers campaign. Instead of asking donors to shop and make a basket, we are asking individuals and groups to consider making financial donations and to let us take care of the rest! We are offering three e-gift options at three donation amounts. Our goal is to count the donations as official baskets in order to measure our success from year to year. With the generous contributions from donors, the Basketeers chapter will purchase gift cards, assemble them as gift bundles, wrap them beautifully, and donate them to the shelters currently supported by our area. This runs now until November 21, 2020. We have chosen to purchase gift cards to the following Canadian retailers: Canadian Tire Walmart Canada President’s Choice Grocery (Independent, Loblaws, No Frills, etc.) Ultimate Dining Card Your Donation is Only One CLICK Away! Option 1: send money by Interac e-transfer: Log into your online or mobile banking app and select make an e-transfer to [email protected] Enter the amount and a security question (no need if the recipient has registered for Interac e-Transfer Auto deposit). If you enter a security question, email us at [email protected] to let us know how to answer the security question. Option 2: mail a cheque payable to Stratford Basketeers and mail to: Stratford Basketeers, c/o Home and Company Real Estate, 245 Downie St, Unit E, Stratford ON N5A 1X5 Just a reminder we are not a registered charity and no tax receipt will be issued for donations. Of course, we understand that participation this year may prove to be difficult financially due to the pandemic. Whether you’ve participated in the past or choose to participate this year, we appreciate your support. Please email if you have any questions and looking forward to a successful campaign. Brian Rivers began his Rotary Career in 2009 by collecting tooth brushes for a medical mission to Peru. While there, the team headed up the amazon to Iquitos, where Brian was amazed to find a Rotary gear, just outside a well in a very remote place, in the middle of a few tiny, isolated villages. Brian admits that he first thought of Rotary as a group that you join to get more business. But during his time with the club, has seen great opportunities to make real change in p...eople’s lives by knowing more about what’s going on locally and around the world. "Once you know where the need is, you can take action, and you can choose to be as hands on as works for you and your family". Be it hiking into the jungle to build a well, or managing a project back home in Stratford, Past President and Paul Harris Fellow, Brian Rivers, invests as much time and energy as fits each year. He and his wife Deb joined as an opportunity to volunteer and serve together. Having hosted five Youth Exchange students over the years, Brian values providing avenues to support others in both little and big ways. Through Rotary their family has grown, having connected with youth from all over the world. Enjoying the comradery of service with friends and family, where it is needed most, offers Brian a deep sense of balance in the world.

Rotary Club of District 6330 Passport honours Rotary Club of Festival City Stratford member and Rotary Club of Global Passport honours partner with Paul Harris ...Fellowships: KEN AITCHESON - "The Rotary Foundation and the Rotary Club of Global Passport District 6330 wants to present Ken Aitcheson with a Paul Harris Certificate. Ken now joins a group of individuals from all over the world that are recognized for their willingness to help their neighbour as well as support international projects that are making this world a better place to live. Ken has always been supportive of Jean and after meeting Ken, I realize that none of Jean's accomplishments would have been possible without his continued support. A willingness to help others is what our motto is about: Service Above Self. Ken lives this motto everyday of his life." ~ James Sillers JEAN AITCHESON - "I simply want to appreciate and notice through a gift of Paul Harris Fellowship to Jean Aitcheson, for her support to this community and by extension to our Club's first project, regarding personal protective equipment locally. I don’t know if you are aware, but I recruited Jean into Rotary have been blessed with her constant support and encouraged, her tireless work in the health field, and in finding many volunteers and donors for those in need. Jean has supported many in our community, introduced to her through the Multicultural Association of Perth Huron at times of need and always encourages them to forward." ~ Lynne Ternosky
