"For most of my life I have struggled to find God, to know God, to love God. I have tried hard to follow the guidelines of the spiritual lifepray always, work for others, read the Scripturesand to avoid the many temptations to dissipate myself. I have failed many times but always tried again, even when I was close to despair. Now I wonder whether I have sufficiently realized that during all this time God has been trying to find me, to know me, and to love me. The question i...s not How am I to find God? but How am I to let myself be found by him? The question is not How am I to know God? but How am I to let myself be known by God? And, finally, the question is not How am I to love God? but How am I to let myself be loved by God? God is looking into the distance for me, trying to find me, and longing to bring me home." - Henri Nouwen See more

Kate Bowler wrote this pray for Election Day today in the USA. May it bring you peace, and may you pray this peace for others. "o God, we are anxious as we stand at the edge of so much opportunity, so much danger. God, calm our fears. protect us, and all that is true and just and good. God have mercy. Christ have mercy. Spirit have mercy.... God You stilled the roaring of the seas, the pounding of their waves, and the tumult of the nations. Psalm 65:7 God have mercy. Christ have mercy. Spirit have mercy. blessed are we to turn to You and pray o God, bless our lands, and through this whole election inspire honesty in every intention, decency in every action, integrity in every decision, and the healing of every division. grant us grace to respect others and listen patiently in a way that restores the possibility of change and creative compromise. blessed are we who ask that you establish stability and peace through leaders who will work for the good of us all, who will seek reconciliation, and unite our countries in a way forward together to shelter those who are vulnerable, hurting, and afraid. blessed are we who trust You to stand by us, strengthen us, and guide us by the light of Your wisdom and love. God have mercy. Christ have mercy. Spirit have mercy. pray once. then find someone to laugh with you. there is time. may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13"

"Be still and know that I am God." Be still. Know. As the snow falls down this afternoon, Peace to You. Peace to the unknowns.... Peace to the busyness that life demands of us. Peace. See more

The Gingko tree is considered a living fossil. They can live for a thousand years; very little can cause them harm. On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. Near the detonation site were several trees, 170 of which survived the blast. Six of these trees were badly damaged ginkgo trees. Even though scientists predicted that nothing would grow at the site for 75 years, the ginkgo trees fully recovered. They have become symbols of Strength, Endurance, and Hope. I am convinced nothing can separate us from the love of God because God has created reminders of God’s love throughout our world. When we are tossed around, God’s love still stands. May you have Strength, Endurance, and Hope in the midst of disaster and in the midst of things that feel like disasters. Amen.
