The beautiful babies are getting big

Good afternoon Fiddleheaders, what a beautiful day it has been! I just wanted to take the opportunity to let everyone know that even after 2 years and 7 technicians our landline still isn't working! If anyone knows of a good lawyer who might want to take on our case against Bell then please do put them in touch with me. Huge apologies to anyone who has been trying to contact us but apparently our phone has been out for over a week now. I have been told by friends that the have left voicemails for me re eggs but I have not got them as the phone doesn't even ring. If you need to contact me please do it via this page or alternatively you can call or text my cell which is 604-721-1284 (sorry its still on a BC number). Sorry for any inconvenience folks!

Ducklings first day out

Fiddlehead Farm 21.07.2020

Official Headcount Is IN! We have 18 ducklings and 5 unhatched eggs. Mama has been off the nest with the babes for food and water but I'm hoping she will get back on soon and crack open these remaining 5. I know, I know a 100% hatch would be miraculous but a girl can dream right

Good information for anyone visiting Fiddlehead Farm. Nahla is beautiful and I know everyone wants to pet her so in order to keep everyone safe and happy, please take a look at this clip on LGD 'etiquette'

Just so you know, it's kind of hard to take a 'head count' when all you have is a sea of uber cute wriggling yellow fluff I think I counted 16 and I still see some 'unhatched' eggs in there.

Ohemgeeeee Fiddlehead Farmers, we would proudly like to announce the arrival of our much awaited DUCKLINGS! I haven't been able to get in for a good look and a head count as Priscilla (mama) is sitting hard and Elvis (daddy) is on protection patrol but when I do I'll update on the hatch. So for now here's a cute pic of status so far

I know, I know, I'm an update slacker. I've just been working 3 jobs as well as the farm and kids etc, anyway, we should be expecting some ducklings over the next 4-5 days I'm soooooooooo excited! Wish me luck

As those of you who know me of old it may seem odd to you that I am living so rural and raising poultry, but those of you who really know me will know it's who I am that being said there have been a lot of firsts for me along this farming journey. We had some chicken chicks (is that the right way to say it?) hatch a few days ago. 4 managed to hatch fine but one was struggling. I decided to help as I feared it may die of exhaustion if I didn't. I got the baby out fine and tucked it under mama to dry out and keep warm. The following day I noticed its neck was deformed and I feared it would not live very long but here we are and it's still with us hoping he/she can fit in ok with the rest of the rabble

Yes, please do folks. We need to help these little lovlies out as much as possible. Please be careful not to spray your gardens with toxic Monsanto pesticides and be sure to only plant flowers and seeds that are non GMO and are from heritage or heirloom.

***NEW BABY UPDATE*** So as if bedtime tonight (7pm ish) Mama hen had two chicks full and fluffy and 3 more eggs in various states of hatching. The 6th egg is not doing anything at all so I'm sure it wasn't viable. Fingers crossed those 3 eggs successfully hatch tonight and we have more healthy babies tomorrow

There are very few sounds on the farm that I dislike and many that I love. The roosters call to the dawn is one of my most favourites but today my heart leapt for the first time this spring. The sounds of little peeps coming from underneath one of my mama hens welcome to the world little chick

Today in my country of birth, my beloved England, it is our national day, The Day of Saint George. Unfortunately it is not widely known nor is it an official holiday, which I believe it should be and I will always celebrate it. Happy Saint George's Day England Xxx

The chickens are so happy the snow is almost gone and the sun is shining, as soon as I open the coop this morning they all marched out leaving the broodys in peace. After filling up with fresh water I find these two here down by the house. They dug themselves a hole and are basking in the heat

Priscilla has 12 eggs The question is, is she ready to sit yet?

Fiddlehead Farm 30.03.2020

The ducks are doing well with their egg laying, I count 11 so far...

Spring has definitely sprung in Fiddlehead Farm, even with many available the ladies are squabbling over nesting boxes.... I guess this box is going to be the most popular this year

Fiddlehead Farm 13.03.2020

Oh yes! The sun is BEAMING! Elvis and Priscilla (Muscovies) have 8 eggs so far in the nest and my BCM ladies are getting broody so I just marked and set under them some more dark brown BCM eggs Coop is all clean with fresh bedding and food bucket is full I'm loving this time of year
