Marsha P. Johnson, a Black transgender woman was at the forefront of the Stonewall riots. This is the moment that began the LGBTQ2S+ movement and is one of the vital reasons Pride is so widely celebrated today. Without people like Marsha, todays LGBTQ2S+ community would not be the same. We are with the Black community. Systemic racism, discrimination and bigotry have existed in our society for far too long. On June 28th, we honour the Stonewall Riots as an important part of Pride history, and we recognize the importance of working together with the Black community to end oppression in all its forms. #GoGetProud

Long, but necessary post: As Pride month continues, we want to acknowledge the deep connection between Pride and anti-racism. Pride started as a protest against discrimination. Systemic racism, discrimination and bigotry have existed in our society for far too long. At Fido, we stand against prejudice in all its forms. Just as we stand with the LGBTQ2S+ community, we stand with the Black Community in the fight for justice, equality, and for us all to live free from violence. ...Together, we must all denounce the bigotry that divides us and advocate for change and show our neighbours, colleagues, family and friends that we are allies. Pictured here is the More Colour More Pride flag. The black and brown stripes highlight the significance of intersectionality and the importance of representation and inclusion of Black, Indigenous and all people of colour in the LGBTQ2S+ community. This flag represents a truly inclusive community. And thats the community we stand for. Lets connect with each other. Les rayures brunes et noires soulignent la portée de lintersectionnalité et limportance de la représentativité et de linclusion des communautés noires, autochtones et des personnes de couleur au sein de la communauté LGBTQ2S+. Ce drapeau représente une communauté véritablement inclusive. Et cest cette communauté que lon défend. On connecte les unes avec les autres. On saccepte les unes, les autres.
