It was a month ago today that we were informed by the BCDA, CDSBC and various Public Heath Officials to cease all Non essential Dental services. For an extrovert like me, it has been difficult not seeing our wonderful patients and Team members every day.. we all see the bigger picture and the safety of our patients, Team, and the public at large is of the upmost concern, so we will stay the course...I will be triaging all emergencies on my cell phone at 604-710-4658. As far... as a return date to resume operations or a protocol as to what that may look like, we have not been provided with that information as of yet....When we know we will update you also. :-) We are continuing to take existing appointments booked on a week to week basis. We at Fifth Avenue Dental Center want to take this opportunity to update you on what we are doing/done in regard to the many questions and concerns surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic. I want to start off by saying out of any office or clinical setting the Dental office is one of the best places you can choose to be. Infection control protocols in the dental office are among the most strict in the work place today with mandates directed by the BCDA and Canadian Dental Associat...ion just to name a few. Our clinical team have always treated ALL our patients with universal precautions from frequent hand washing to our brand new state of the art sterilization centre where all our clinical team members are very well trained about the protocols for running these systems according to Federal and Provincial standards. In light of recent events you will notice upon entering our office you will find hand sanitizer in every treatment room ,washroom and reception area along with signs as a reminder of proper hand washing technique and to use hand sanitizer often. Not only do we thoroughally wipe down all surfaces in our treatment rooms after EVERY patient, change barriers on equipment after EVERY patient, we have an Office cleaning staff (2 ladies that have been cleaning our office for many years) come in daily to ensure our office is clean and ready for the next day, we are wiping down all other surfaces often (multiple times daily). We understand this situation is changing quickly and we are listening attentively to our Federal and Provincial Heath experts for recommendations and acting quickly as information becomes available. You can help us help you by practicing proper hand washing techniques (I cant stress that enough) using hand sanitizer when washing your hands isnt an option, and minimizing contact with the general public should you have flu like symptoms. We are all doing our best to protect ourselves and each other and be assured we at Fifth Avenue Dental are taking this pandemic very seriously.
